Description:
Hey,
Looking to buy some Euro R53/R56 Recaro Seats. I am in NJ, but can travel for them. Also would pay for shipping. Let me know if anyone is looking to sell them! Thanks!
Those are Recaro CS seats, customized for MINI and sold as an accessory in Europe. You can have a set made to exact MINI spec or customized to your liking. Here is a link: https://amx-performance.com/bmw-performance-silver-01/
Finding an OEM set in the US won’t be easy. I imported a complete set of used factory Recaro R53 seats from England a couple years back. Total cost for those was a bit less than a pair of new Recaro CS for comparison.

Thanks for the information!
I am torn between the CS seats and the ones you have! Would the factory Recaro R53 seats be easier to source?
If you ever wanted to sell them, please let me know, haha.

I’ve sat in the Recaro CS too. They are a bit more firm but hold you well and look amazing.
The “easy” method is to contact AMX Performance and write a big check. Alternately, finding a used set of factory Recaros in clean condition, then going through the process to have them packed, put into a cargo crate, shipped, and then get through US customs is a lot more effort.
Hey JackMac - I tried to send a PM but got a message that your mailbox is full.

From Mini/BMW... Two versions were provided... Debossed JCW logo or Embroidered logo... Also have seen all Leather, Pleather and Alcantara/Pleather mix on the factory seats on the other side of the pond.
Is the JCW logo important to you?
Is a functional airbag important to you? Passenger airbag sensor?
What upholstery are you looking for?
Alcantara, Alcan/Leather mix, vinyl, all leather?

I'd worry about buying from an overseas private party seller, insufficiently packed to avoid transit damage or (perhaps worse) subject to US Customs inspection wherein seat hog rings and covers removed looking for "contraband".
Expensive seats becoming even more costly with repairs subsequently required would likely prompt me to buy new...

Valid concerns for sure...
I've shipped seats from europe and literally tons of other parts... without issue.
Declare full value and have receipts... no issues.
Packing IS a big deal... you just have to make sure it's done right... AMX provides top notch packing and wrapping... They do a LOT of seats for US customers.

Yep very rare, good luck on the search. We were the last people to have new sets from europe.

They are old Sportster CS with the MINI JCW logos. Alcantara Version and Leather version so their was two types in the JCW seats, ones with the older logo and newer logo design. We never got them due to the airbag issues as i personally discussed this with the MINIUSA team at the time.

Some people go to the Sportster GT as they are the closest to the old sportster CS
