New (to me) MCS Around Town

Hey guys- I just bought a MCS-06 and am having a blast. Would love to meet up with fellow MINI owners in the area. The car is basically stock aside from some minor aesthetics, but I'd like to learn more about some of the cheaper upgrades (the ones I can get away with without the wife's knowledge ).

Anyways, here's a pic. Say hey if you see me around town. I'm mostly in Mt. Pleasant.

I have a JCW arriving mid July 2011, I hope. Adding lots of carbon fiber and protection for the front from Mt Pleasant Detailing. It would be great to start a MINI Club, though the BMW club allows MINIs in.

I agree with RGar. I have an '09 MCS that's mostly stock but I have a bunch of suspension upgrades that just haven't been installed yet. I also finally bumped up the tires to some "real" rubber and went a bit wider than stock, it's a night and day difference.

I tried hanging out with Chad and the gang from Total MINI & BMW. Chad's cool but some of the other folks just aren't the type that I look forward to hanging out with in a car club. I came from the tuner scene with Subaru's and recently an '06 STi that's still around town in N. Charleston. I prefer the clubs that have members that like to get together and go for drives, photo shoots, talk about the cars, upgrades, events, & trips they've taken to find excellent driving roads and their experiences on them. Going to restaurants or bars and drinking for a couple hours and going home is ok but if that's all the club's about I'd rather not bother and that's all I was getting from the current LCM club. That and the fact that a couple members were INSISTENT on meeting on Sundays only just wasn't working out well.

If you guys ever want to get together and talk about the cars, drives, etc. I'm in. Outside of that, I hope you find what you are looking for in a local car club.

Yeah, I think we're on the same page here. I'm all about driving and finding cool roads or events. I also am pretty good with my digital SLR and doing HDR type photos. I'd also like to do some of the cheaper upgrades to my car and could really use some advice on that.

Going to the Upstate this weekend... lots of great roads there!

From what I've seen, a 15% reduction pulley and air intake are good upgrades?

All of us like driving.....If you would like to do that, plan a route. I for one, just don't have the time to run a shop full time, attend a full SCR Autocross season and spend time with the family to accomplish the schedule for the local club. The only reason we decided on Tanger outlet once a month was for consistancy. It was always encouraged for the members to decide where to go from there, but without planning it's near impossible to have good drives. And yes, indulging in a beer while having lunch with the group works too....

Wow, hard to believe you got all of that from what? showing up two or three times to a meeting? and then posting you were selling the car? ; I have REPEATEDLY tried to get some more participation from the people on this board and ENCOURAGED people to try a different meeting day (oh like the post about meeting on Saturday for the past 3 or 4 months; have yet to see you show up yet). You get what you put in, and you ain't done squat. When we do meet, we do have lunch and drink beer if we so desire; you want a drive, plan it and post it (don't wait til we are there and try to do it, by that time people already have other plans for the day) and people will probably participate, but I'm pretty sure the kind of people that you don't want to hang out with won't, so have a good time.

I know we manage to have a good time when we do meet, and I believe we talked about going to MOTD (that's MINIs On The Dragon, a driving trip) the last couple of times we did get together, and will probably talk about all the latest crap we've done to our cars and all the fun we had while at MOTD (again, didn't see you there) this year, at the next meet.

Sorry for the threadjack but that crap wasn't going unchallenged.
