JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 1st Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
Finally Ive managed to post so pictures of my leather seats . If you are ever thinking about getting new seats ....go for the JCW ..
They look awesome, but don't they come in different color options? I'd love to get a set in Lapis Blue, but here in the USA they are not "officially" available, due to our air bag requirements (and that the JCW seats don't have them). We'd have to import them from Europe, paying BIG $$$ for them... then there's the issue of disabling the air bag sensor so the car doesn't complain that the seat airbags are gone.

Actually, the new (for MINIs built after 11/06) JCW seats due have the side airbags. Although I've heard they still aren't being sold in the US for other reasons. I guess time will tell.

How comfortable are these seats? I currently have the standard sports seats and find them very comfortable... I would really like JCW seats but just a little concerned about comfort levels...
Not trying to get too far off topic here, but has anyone noticed that the Cooper Motorsports website is down for the month? I know we can't order seats directly from them, but I was curious...what are they doing? I believe they stated that they were closing the doors on their retail operation...

They are a sports seat , what do you expect from them ...they do the job that they were designed to do . They are comfartable ,yes and even more when you pull out the thigh support ,which seems to drop the bottom /back of the legs area for long trips .. Hope this helps
In my opinion ...they are fantastic to sit in , great to drive in , however they can be a bit firm around the sides and do cause a bit of trouble getting in and out of the car ...all good sports seats do though . They are much better than the Standard seats ...try before you buy is always a good idea ... I did that and bought a pair the next day or so
