Team Requirements?
Exactly how much crap do you need to get on the Team? Is Team membership reserved for only those who have the full kit?
I only have one little piece of crap, the JCW Intake. It certainly is craptastic.
I also see that you can now get the JCW exhaust as a stand alone item. Any thoughts on that?

JCW exhaust is very nice. Dyno tests done on MINI2 show only 2hp loss from a Borla Sport. Very quiet, solidly built, does exactly what Michael Cooper wanted to do.

We're also hoping to downgrade to the JCW suspension bits -

From the day I ordered my car, and I knew illuminated sills existed, I wanted illuminated JCW ones - but they were only available in the non-JCW designs, so I bought the non-illuminated JCW ones instead. Now that the illuminated JCW ones ARE available, I just had to fix it!

I need help... 10 steps, 12 steps, even 14 steps if it will help. My name is Dread Pirate Tim and I have a problem. I started this thread trying to put some numbers to the craptastic crap that John Pooper, I mean Cooper, puts out. And that's where my problem started...
I began to check out pulleys and exhausts and headers and all kinds of other crap from OTHER suppliers. I looked at the M7 carbon splitter. I looked at Sparco Milano Prestige seats in place of the real JCW ones (I know, if I would just suck up the shipping and forgo the airbags I could have them). I have looked at H sport and M7 springs to lower my car. I don't know if a Milltek exhaust or a Borla exhaust would be better. What about those damn Denso plugs? Oh so many questions...
And after a couple weeks Mrs. Dread finally kicked my a$$. Dammit. She wants a fast, smooth, reliable car. Something about hauling the little Dreads around. Especially if I replace the runflats and there's no spare. Unless I promise to answer my cell phone NO MATTER WHAT. Well that's not exactly realistic...
So here's what I -- I mean WE -- have come up with. Please help.
- Standard MCS without Sport package to avoid the Xenons (20 lbs, right?)
- DSC and LSD (at least until the clutch goes and we put in a Quaife)
- Cold weather, Leather, f/r fogs, Chrono pkg (gotta have the speedo in the center so don't get all fanatical on us), anthracite headliner and H/K stereo
- Add-on JCW with air intake and suspension
- JCW strut brace, just because. It might even help minimize mushrooming.
- ASA AR1 17x7 with Goodyears
- TCE Brakes f/r
- WMS extreme rear sway bar
The goal is to go as much as possible with JCW crap for tractability, drivability and warrantability (are those really words?). But to have more stopping power than a Carrera or a Boxster. We don't need all-out canyon cruising power, but we want to stop when we want to stop -- with no apologies and no second guessing.
We thought about coil overs... too hard core plus we will never have the car balanced for more than 5 minutes at a time. We don't need real track stuff, so we might get more with a little lighter wheels or stickier rubber but this should do the trick. And the leather is actually easier to clean than the vinyl when the sippy cups spill and the gold fish get ground into the piping. And it's more comfortable on those wonderful date nights when Mrs. Dread actually wears a skirt...
Did I mention color? Guess not... check out the signature.
Truly, thanks for your help... please try to keep it constructive, but it's all good.

Well FIRST, you need one of these in CF
a mere $150 from Porsche
Now ...
avoid the Xenons
Mistake ... Once have have those Xenons you will NEVER go back
Cold weather
Fluff. My wife is always cold and could care less about heated seats because you got to many layers of clothes on in the winter anyway. Luxary $$
Chrono pkg
More fluff ... If you have the OBC, you got a digital speedo in fron of you ... more luxary $$ wasted
JCW strut brace
Bling ... totally unnecessary and not going to stop mushrooming. Go over to MINI 2 and see what Roland says about them.
WMS extreme rear sway bar
Can't say anything about that but maybe H-Sport is just as good ... lighter since its hollow.
to have more stopping power than a Carrera or a Boxster.
Your not serious are you? Porsche builds their stock brakes to pull down four times the power of what the engine can put out. New ones have the PCCB ceramic option ($16K aftermarket kit ... $8K if you buy OEM). NEVER fade. I seriously doubt you will come close in this area
Well, you asked for serious answers. I'd take the $$ thrown into the luxaries and save it or buy the real TC kit. HK? also do you really need that?
I can tell you this ... She wants a fast, smooth, reliable car. Something about hauling the little Dreads around.
I know its a cliche but all the JCW parts are meant to work together including the brakes. Your not going to track the car, you don't need any other aftermarket brakes.

Just a little penny's worth of thought on the Porsche stopping power: I have the biggest BBK TCE makes and that sucker is scary until hot! Don't get me wrong, I love the brakes, but until they are hot, they brake for *****--something that's more likely on the street.
If you don't get the JCW brakes, at least get stainless braided brake lines, which give about 90% of the BBK feel anyway. For anything short of track days, and even then, BBKs are pure bragging rights at local club meetings. Save your money for the coilovers....
cheers, phil
