I have a 2018 F60 JCW. A year ago MINI replaced my brake pads and rotors and ever since then the brakes squeal like a transit bus until they are significantly warmed up. It started soon after they installed them and seemed to be worse in cold weather. Lately though it seems they don't even stop squealing when warmed up. I've complained about this to MINI multiple times and their answer is that this is normal for the Brembo brakes on JCW and there's nothing they can do about it. The original brakes put on the car in the factory didn't make a single noise for the 4 years I had them so I wonder if they have changed materials or if there is actually something wrong with mine.

So I guess my question is: is this actually normal and expected? I'm sick of it and it has me looking at different cars. But I'm willing to try some things (I'll even replace the pads myself if it comes to it). I'm thinking first step should maybe be to pop out the pads on one and see how they look? Maybe there's something obvious going on?

If it is not expected, what are some things I can do to try to fix it? I've tried multiple times to bed the brakes (a couple rolling stops from 100km/hr) and I'm not sure it made any difference. Or should I just keep hounding MINI to fix this?

 

The front pads do this on most JCW Brembo Brakes. Does it also on the Range Rover that have the brembo package.

Best fix is to slide out the front pads and add some brake pad grease. We have the AGS stuff.
