Help! What's this wire?

Just noticed this (likely) chipmunk chewed wire in the front of my 2004 engine compartment. Car runs great. Wondering what it would be doing were it not chewed in half. Thanks for any help

From: Under the car. As per normal.
Just curious by chance was the chipmunk wearing an ASE patch at the stealership? That cut looks pretty clean, no other chew marks in the picture, just saying...

And congratulations in advance, you get to put the car in 'front end maintenance mode' - guessing about a $400 tab at the stealership - to replace it. Long list of "While you're in there®" items to boot...

Thanks for solving the mystery! The ole gal hasn't been to a dealership in awhile. Sigh - I suppose it's time. Thanks again, JoAnne

There should be a fair amount of slack in the wire coming from the knock sensor. How are you at soldering?

I'm not but I know people who are! I was wondering about an alternative to tearing the front end apart. Thank you!
