Two light systems, one on the mirror (if optioned) and one under the door on the bottom. That retrofit kit above is that door one. I think its an aftersales add on. When you get your MINI just open the door and look under the door for the light.
hm. The salesman told me that under the Iconic JCW hardtop purchase, it gets the mirror puddle lamp on the driver's side.
There was an option in the configurator for the under door ones. When does one or the other light up? what actuates or triggers one lighting vs the other?
there is a real lack of information about what comes as standard for each trim level, or standard in general. I like how Mazda for the MX-5 lists everything it comes with. Very complete and clear.
I love the projector effect. I think it would be nice to have on the passenger's side as well. I would like for my date to have some dazzle and light there. It is more important than on the driver's side. There are no puddles on that side lol. They are on the passenger's side when you pick them up curbside someplace in the winter at night.
Some countries and levels its not standard. It should tell you if you have it, i think its under lighting package or Mini Excitement Package for the mirror. Your motoring advisor should know. Around 2018-2019 they started to offer it .
oh man. i have to call him to make sure. we saw the Under Door Light as an option on his build screen. He said it would be redundant.
I believe the passenger mirror does NOT have a puddle light. That is what the dealer said. I did not test this if it true or not.
I wonder if that is correct, that there is only a driver's side projector, and that eminates from the mirror cap. (I saw it do that on one from the showroom).
Could i install one just in the passenger's side? (assuming the F56 JCW iconic only comes with one on the driver's side).
I thank you for answering all of these questions, without you and others, i would have gotten the wrong build.
Just a quick update > It's been about a year and a half, and so far the JCW has been perfect. Truly a wonderful top down driving experience. Been averaging 22-24 mpg around town and couldn't be happier. I sold my Porsche 911 to buy the JCW - best decision I ever made.
Just a quick update. I have owned my 2023 JCW Mini for over two years now and I am happy to report there have been zero issues so far. The engine, transmission, paint, leather seats, convertible top still look and feel like new. The only thing I have done so far is a couple of oil changes which are covered under warranty.
Definitely the best car I have ever owned. I got a call today from my Mini dealer asking if I would trade it in for a new one. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the new JCW convertible. The interior looks really cheap and overall it looks like a serious cost cutting exercise compared to mine. This one will stay in the stable for the long haul.

I agree. I had a 2018 Countryman SE that I recently traded in for a 2021 (pre-face lift) JCW convertible with 11,089 miles on the odometer. Wonderful little car and the best retirement present I could have given myself. The 4th generation convertible just leaves me cold. A cheaper looking more soul-less design they could not have devised.
Those leather seats are gorgeous. I dont much like the 2025 JCW convertible except for the DCT and the 280 lb-ft of torque. My 2024 JCW convertible has been a real hoot to drive and reliable.
