JCW Dynamic Damping missing?
Dynamic Damping missing?
So the 2023 JCW supposed to have dynamic damping. I assume that means there is an electrical connection to the suspension components. Normally it’s a wire that attaches at the top of the strut towers that you can see in the front under the hood. I noticed that mine does not have any connections at the top. Does anybody know whether these connections are somehow hidden somewhere that I can’t see them? Otherwise, I think I got shorted the dynamic damping suspension situation.
The Dynamic Damping in the 2022-23 models is not adjustable and has no electrical connections. How do I know? I have a '22 JCW Hardtop and asked the same question. The new shocks have a valve that initially releases to soften reaction to sharp road imperfections and it works very well. My '22 is my 5th MINI and even with runflats the ride is really good without any sacrifice in handling. With these new shocks, MINI was able to stiffen the suspension and still not have the jarring ride of many precious models.Hope this helps.

That's great - does that mean that I could get those shocks for my 2019 F56 JCW without dynamic damping and just swap them out? I'm not a big fan of aftermarket coilovers and don't want to lower my car, just looking to get some better damping over harsh potholes. I wonder how much they cost, I'll have to look it up.

My guess is its the same technology KONI uses.

Which MY or production date did old DDC a revert to New DDC ?
I ask as I am window shopping for a new “older Jcw” and have a set of kw coilovers that are DDC compatible sat in a box for the last 5 years

Not sure, but the DDC vs not DDC is the rear shock mount goes from what I believe is a M10 non DDC to an M12 pin so it can hold the wire.

Good info, thanks for that. I mean, how much stiffer could they be, 5-10%? I guess I'd need the whole setup from a LCI '22 model JCW then.
