How to drag race with a tree
I have a 2021 clubman with the 8 speed transmission and I am debating running an event that is started with a drag racing tree. I am trying to figure out the best way to launch my car. I am not planning on using launch control as I will likely be launching the car 15 times over the course of the day. I am looking for something less abusive to the drive train and consistent over the course of the day.
In my limited experience with drag trees on unprepped surfaces, BMWs with dual clutches have problems with leaving the line when you want them too. The E90 M3 was especially bad for this, sometimes delaying the launch by more than half a second.
Are there any games I can play that will stop the car from rolling forward when I transfer from the brake to the gas? Will a left foot brake transitioning to right foot gas cause the car to fall on its face if I screw up and press both pedals at once?

I reckon you're nuts, to drag race that car but what the heck....
At the risk of stating the obvious, try it. Left foot brake to the point of launch with some throttle and then go.
You'll know then. Just shut off the DSC et ux, et al.
Silly person. Go find some corners! ;-)
Cheers,
Charlie

It is a prosolo. 200ft drag race followed by an autocross.
I have never launched a dual clutch before. I am ok with manuals or traditional automatics.
Is there any concern about revving the engine with the transmission in M1 without moving?

I thought only the hardtop had the dual clutch (7-speed I think) while the Clubman and Countryman have a more conventional automatic transmission (8-speed)
