HOWTO: Add a visor and/or grab handle to your GP3

The new GP3 doesn't come with a driver door side sunshade, nor a grab handle on the passenger side. Here's how to add them:
Tools and parts needed:
Sun Visor: https://www.outmotoring.com/side-sun...167376859.html
Grab Handle: https://www.outmotoring.com/grab-han...167336852.html
You can probably order the parts from other places, this is just where I got mine. I don't know the official part number, so don't ask
Needle nose pliers OR
2 skinny little screw drivers

This same method should work for any F based mini that doesn't have these bits, but I only have a GP3, so I make no promises.

Pop out the 2 little things here in this picture. I used a plastic tool, but anything will work. They just pry right out.

Here's what it looks like when they're both out. The retaining clips are still in, but need to come out, too:

The retaining clips have a pressure clip on the inside of each side (see arrows).

Needle nose pliers would have been easier, but I couldn't find mine, so I used 2 little screw drivers. Using one screwdriver, press the pressure clip in towards the center, then use the other screwdriver to lift that side of the grommet. Then move your first screwdriver to the other side to press the pressure clip towards the inside of the grommet. Leave the 2nd screwdriver in place and just pop the grommet out. This is a crappy picture, but I only have 2 hands :p

Do that for both (or all 4) of the grommets. Here's what it looks like when they're out:

Line up your visor and/or grab handle to make sure you're installing them correctly:

The brackets on the visor/grab handle just pop in. It takes a little force, but you'll feel it "pop" once it's seated. Voila! You now have a visor and grab handle.

Thanks for the post, I use the visor in my F56 JCW quite a bit, and I think I will add it if I ever receive my GP3.

Well, I added it today! I asked my sales rep about installing one at the dealership as they offer a 25% discount, but his quotes was $1,895! ???? It took about 30 minutes, $90, and enough effort to work up a sweat and it does sound like you broke the clip, but you won't if you apply ever firmer pull with a tiny amount of wiggling. I am a happier camper now as I love the included in the price side sun visor on our JCW which is now our winter car. I am debating about putting clear seal on the hood and roof, but it is pricey and I may just op for the dings. Your pictures and explanations made this possible for me because I would not have used as much force as I did otherwise.

I'm the same and it was one of the most frustrating things about the GP3, tbh. Having it installed is a huge improvement!

Just replaced the passenger side grab handle with a visor on my '21 Cooper SE. Easy install once we figured out how to do it. I did this on my '08 Cooper, but it had machine screws to fasten the visor and handle. That one was easier. Thanks to DavidPinAZ for the helpful photos and text.
