N18 Engine Serpentine Belt........

How do you check the serpentine belt for wear and at what intervals is it recommended to service?

How many miles on the car?

Checking the belt is a visual inspection. Look at the belt and check for signs of cracking or fraying. If you see either of those, it needs to be replaced.

Cracks and then on the back side of the belt you will get these little high spots that wear. Thats when i know its time. Some people check with the tool: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-conti-te...ntitester~con/

Where do you have easy access to check it other than removing the inner fender? It has been replaced 20k miles ago.

We recommend it every 60k or anytime you see cracks in the belt.

We have a wrench that makes the job super easy to replace.

Thanks for the info about recommended maintenance. I already bought both wrenches and also an OEM belt but I think I will wait another 30K to service that item if I even keep the Mini as long.

Should be fine with that mileage i change mine at about 50K. From the bottom of the car you can see the belt and use the special tool to change the belt from the bottom if needed. Remove the little splash guard. Or open up the under the fender line to see more.
