Drivetrain Squeaky serpentine belt...
Squeaky serpentine belt...
Just had my 15% Alta installed (not sure if it is version 2.0 - how do i tell?) and I get belt squeak sometimes... mostly after driving if I am stopped at a light for more than 20 seconds... it is very faint but it's there. Should I be worried? Everything was installed properly and the belt showed no signs of wear. The car has only 20,000kms (thats only 12,000 miles!)
My belt was squeaky right after being changed.
Could it be any residue on the belt or maybe on one of the pulleys?
Could it be the weather- more squeak in the morning when cold?
Could it improve with the engine warming up and belt a little warm or worn?
Over time my belt got less squeaky and I never removed it.
I also wonder about my new belt being old stock or something since I have changed belts many times and only got the squeaks once.

I think you are right on all your points. It's been colder than usual here (well, it is winter after all) and there might have been some junk on the belt after the pulley was installed. I guess I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. Just let me know if your belt explodes violently...
