Air intake Dinan or AWE

Looking to install an intake on my 2017 JCW. Any input on the pros and cons for each system would be greatly appreciated.

I have the AWE and most likely if I would have done more research maybe I would have bought the DINAN for the only reason that the air filter itself is a cylinder versus the AWE being more of a cone shape. This only means more air goes through the DINAN intake...
Seems as the coverage of the "box" is the same.
You might want to check the AEM which can keep the filter even more away from the heat. Keep in mind that [my opinion!] none should be called "cold air intake" as they are sucking up hot~warm air!
https://www.carid.com/2017-mini-coop...parentsubmodel=ENGINE|2.0L
The more I look at it, the more I like the AEM. They are saying [I am wrong!] that the filter is cone shape also but it is much more protected from the heat. Oh! well...
The only true cold air intake would be the EVENTURI" which only sucks air from a new installed scoop...
$1545 at ECS.... I was not ready for that!!! Better performance? Probably? Even though happy with my AWE [of course!]. Sound?... not that it matters [with Pro Exhaust], the same as I found a sound clip.
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-eventuri...-f56-cf-int~v/
The install is just a few minutes... on the AWE.

Once that installed I would strongly recommend the NM Engineering Power Module! That made all the difference while on the low setting mode of 93 Octane. Actually we only have 91 here in NM but I drive 90% of the time at 5000~9400 feet.
If buying NM Engineering products shop around as many Dealers sells them less than NM Engineering themselves.
I am sure this has not helped much!!!

Let us know what you get!...

Thanks for the reply. I am running the Dinan Elite tune. Felt that maybe I would go with the Dinan just because. I really prefer the look of the AWE though.

Great on the module...

I like the looks of it also... and by the way, in the install instructions they are removing the sensor from the holder [hope this makes sense!]. I found that step not needed and just removed and set aside the sensor/holder in one piece.

Good luck!

I put the Eventuri F5X Mini Cooper intake system on https://www.eventuri.net/products/f5...-cooper-s-jcw/ and love it. Great sound and it returns the hood scoop to a functioning scoop.

I suspect the eVenturi is the only one to really provide functional gains as it is only one to bring in cool air. But being from Florida worry about water ingestion in our tropical rainstorms.

Had a few hurricanes here since I put it on and no issues to date.

Have the Eventuri and love it, and plastic version is almost have the cost (but still has carbon fiber scoop). I feel that in order for water to effect it, it would need to be equivalent of a house pointed at scoop

We haven't seen real gains with the intakes so we just go with the dry panel filter in the stock box.

but we do like the Forge intake pipe to help improve the airflow by removing the resonator in the intake hose.

If you really want to lower intake air temps to make more power going with a larger intercooler is the best option and bang for the buck.

Been looking at intakes recently also but never considered the hardpipe. I currently have the Forged FMIC, would the hardpipe be a better next mod than an intake?

I think the hard pipe is a better mod than the intake as it will improve airflow after the MAF. And doesn't open up the airbox to suck hot engine compartment air

Is there a video for the "Forge Intake Pipe" install? I am very, meaning "really very" mechanically challenged!!! I did install the AWE CAI, the NM Engineering PM, NM Tie bar, that is about my speed of abilities...

I have a message sent to your site regarding the fit of 15mm spacers... [just so you know]

Thanks...

What would your shop charge someone to install this part? Just for reference, as I'm thousands of miles away. Back in my limber youth I would have done it myself.

Went with the AWE. Took a drive over to AWE Tuning Monday afternoon to discuss the possibility of installing this intake. After a satisfying discussion with Dan Geil the sales director at AWE I made the purchase. I installed it Monday evening and I haven't noticed any appreciable air intake temperatures according to my Scan Gauge. Throttle response, spool up and especially blow off noise have greatly improved. I would highly recommend this option.

It didn't even take a half hour. I already pre read the installation instructions so I already knew what had to be done. Fit and finish are exemplary.

More power demands better handling... which demands more power... which...
Vicious circle!!!

The Tie Bar is NM Engineering

http://www.nm-eng.com/345/0/0/3181/n...m-tie-bar.html

Under carriage, Cravenspeed "Big Pair"

https://www.cravenspeed.com/the-big-...f56-2014-2019/

NM Engineering rear Control Arms

http://www.nm-eng.com/345/0/0/3117/n...ntrol-arm.html

Together they have seriously improved the handling. More planted for sure. I only use the car for the too many miles of Mountain Rds starting a mile from here and the results are fantastic. I could not tell you which components works best. All!!!... in harmony.

I don't believe in "wheel spacers" as I don't spend any money on "looks" but for results without getting too exotic. 15~15mm wheel spacers is not going to achieve much and would I feel go against the design of the geometry of the car and its suspension components.

Hope this helps.

Really need to address the wallow I experience at speed while cornering . The big pair has been on my list as well as a strut tower brace amongst other pieces. Progress will be made as time and money allow.

That is very wise...

Someone rowing their boat at my speed!!!

I can't help smiling when I read at "summer wheels and tires" and so many more I call frivolities [... and I am sorry if I am old school!]. I really don't like the "looks" of my stock wheels BUT, what are new wheels going to do in performance? Besides unsprung weight of course, but realistically dent my wallet by a few thousands of dollars for... nothing! Cosmetics...

Of course Society in general today has the "credit card" tool... Unknown to me, my cars have always been paid for and so is my house and more... Just a different way to live I guess. If I can afford it, I buy... plain and simple as food and everything else. [disn't mean to get philosophical here!!!]

You will get there, one step at the time...
