Hence the name "Driving lights" genius! Fog lights are effective when they're mounted low to the ground and illuminate the road surface under the fog. They don't reflect back in the drivers eyes. Driving lights are usually pretty much on a level and adjustment with the headlights. In effect, auxiliary high beams. They're designed to reach out farther and augment your high beams, not illuminate what you're about to run over. I had them on my '07 MCS and liked them, but you have to keep them adjusted correctly. I kinda miss them on my F56, but am not gonna spend my mod money an a retrofit. I have a set of 8" driving lights on my Suburban that can reach way out there. They help me avoid the critters (especially during deer season) on the dark country roads around my house.

I bought the driving lights with my new JCW because I knew there were no fog lights and I rarely use them, especially with the covers on! But they are great for increased night vision when you need them! I know why the JCW doesn’t come with fog lights....with LEDs you don’t need them! ;-)

They really are stellar for night performance driving. I usually lead a spirited drive during the MOTD after the "Minis Slay the Sleeping Dragon Run," as they scare away all the critters and we don't have to deal with them. Everyone comments on how good my driving lights are. They extend the range considerably and really light up the sides in the event there are suicidal critters waiting for me!

Sounds like a great option to me. I have always been frustrated that fog lights go off when the high-beams go on. I realize that in fog, you need lights lower to the ground and regular high-beams are horrible in fog. The reality is that most of the time I use the fog lights just to get more light when there is no fog. Sounds like I need driving lights as well.

I would be interested in knowing how the driving lights operate compared to the low-high beam headlights
(I have aircraft landing lights for high beams in my Charger, the bulb on the right.....way better than standard driving lights)

Actually, the "fog lights" only work with the brights off.....if you turn the high beams on, the fog lights turn off.....when you go back to low beams, the fog lights turn back on......that is usually standard for any car that has factory fog lights.......all of my cars work this way......now, driving lights may be a different story....none of my cars have the driving light feature.....
