JCW 2020 MINI GP Article

Great article! It reminds me how I felt back in early 2015 “before” the new F56 JCW was released and my extra wait for the manual transmission. The anticipation was crazy and I’m sure you will feel even more excitement than me by waiting for your GP3!
Stay young at heart! I’m right behind you at 69!

also looks like they are using an all new hankook extreme performance tire. Very similar tread design to the conti extreme contact sport and Michelin ps4

I am still a fan of the Michelin over the Continentals. There is a new blurb about the fenders this morning on the Motoring File.

I love the new automatics. But I just bought a '19 JCW. I am thinking that 3-4 years from now, I will be able to buy a low mile GP for a decent price. The first two models were not a sales success and when slightly used were fairly cheap. Will history repeat?

The way things are going I bet it will only have the sport automatic which isn’t a bad thing these days for a sports car. But the manual will always offer a visceral feel and coordination by the driver with the engine that the automatic cannot offer, even if the auto is faster!
My concern is cost! My somewhat stripped down manual JCW was pushing $40,000 back in 2015, so I doubt very much the GP3 will be under $50,000....prob closer to $60,000.
And remember, when that fancy automatic transmission breaks you are looking at a very large bill to fix the thing! Not so much with a manual if it ever breaks! lol!
I’d bite on the GP3, but my pampered JCW is still new with less that 1200 miles! I’m keeping it!

Again there currently isn't anything bmw has for the transverse layout for a transmission that can handle 330lbft of torque. I don't see BMW allowing a poor selling brand to spend millions developing a stronger manual for a limited production vehicle.

x2 m45i does not exist..... the x2 m35i base price is $46k but that is an apples to oranges comparison vs the gp3. Just the x2 alone as far as sales is on track to exceed sales figures of ALL mini sales combined.

The X2 M35i starts at 55.200€ in Germany: https://www.bmw.de/de/ssl/configurat...B/F39/esl/new/, take off the 19% VAT and you're right at 46.387€

Yeah, in the US sometimes you're stuck paying MSRP on any of these in demand vehicles. It's next to impossible to get 15% off on a BMW/Mini, you'd have to be stacking rebates and buying at the right time of year to hope to hit that number.

300 hp GP3, this article claims to confirm it (or should I say another article...):

That will make for quite a ride. Now if someone would find out what it is going to look like.

There are multiple mule photos dating back to mid last year. The more recent photos show the exterior changes and the new rear fenders. Track testing is happening now.

You can if you want, but it is not the most comfortable car for a daily driver if remains true to the earlier versions. It is a more track oriented machine and the seats are made to hold you in place, there is less sound insulation, etc. Your JCW is sort of the best of both worlds, a good daily driver and a decent track car. I just read a post in an online motoring magazine that the base GP3 will start at $49,000 US.
