JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 1st Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
Was just casually browsing around this morning and came across some interesting tidbits that may fit here in this thread,
which is an evolution of the 210 kit.
JOHN COOPER MOTORSPORT toward the end before BMW bought them out, offered a 225 kit and also a 265 kit.
The 265 kit was very very expensive and little info to be found relating to specs.
The JCM 225 kit mainly consisted of a 4-2-1 header with a redesigned 2.5" exhaust along with a 15% reduction supercharger pulley.
Pretty interesting.
Those kits were only available from John Cooper Garages, and for a short while after their closure the kits were available from Mini Motorsport Centre which Tony Franks opened.
Yep, that the old thread i saw. most of the original JCW stuff from the Gen 1 MINI pre 2005 was all made in the UK, my sound kit was. And has a JCM logo vs the JCW logo on the parts except that emblem. Cool find.
A 2005 with kit S7348 arrived in our driveway around 4AM today. We bought it from the original owner in WA and my son fetched it from a relatives house near Sacramento to bring it back to SC. The car is an April 2005 build delivered by Motorwerks MINI in MN to original owner in May 2005.
Other than peeling clear coat and zero compression in cylinder 2 the car is in great shape.
The kits will be numbered regardless of whether they are dealer or factory installed. The owners of 2006 - 2008 models will be able to decode the VIN to determine whether their MINI was built with the kit (option 3AL).
How does one decode the VIN? Is there an article or tutorial on this site?
Unless something was changed previous to you owning it, it should have the 210HP JCW kit including the 1st gen JCW brakes and a factory LSD. It should also have JCW badges front and rear.
JCW part ****... Still gathering my collection to be all put on once have all the parts for the complete build. Most of the items including the tuning kit are new and unused. The boxes underneath are the side skirts.
I made a set of the JCW scuttles for my R52... I will post a picture of the finished product tomorrow.... I'm not sure if I posted a picture in my thread in the JCW garage section
Just picked up a 2006 JCW. Slick top, heavily loaded. Some interesting options like chrono pack and English panther leather. VIN decoder says it was built November 11, 2006. JCW engine plate is #S16352. 37K miles. Needs a little clean up but it runs like a dream. Very excited.
I have been looking everywhere for that sticker. I unfortunately was late on this.
I've always got my eyes peeled for the early JCW stuff,
wish it wasn't so scarce and hard to find.
I actually changed my mind about the sticker when I noticed the seller listed another one after that auction ended - contacted them and they were willing to send to USA, but wanted to use the Tracked & Signed postal option and the quote for that was £14.85 GBP, on top of the £12 it would have been $33.75 USD!
I was in the middle of requesting if they could use the International Standard option instead because it's much cheaper when it sold so I missed out,
and it doesn't look like they have anymore left.
They had 4 in total:
England's Royal Mail is a pain in my **** because it's always so expensive, plus they're slow to boot. I've ordered quite a bit of stuff from Ireland and not only is their AnPost much cheaper, it's also much faster. I only wish that the RM could be more like them.
I sent them an inquiry asking for the edition # and hopefully they'll respond.
Only 100 were made and if we knew the edition # for this one it'd narrow down a definitive range, but I think it's safe to say at this point for an approximation that roughly around 18,000 JCW S-kits were made.
...the neat thing was that along with the certificate it also has the registration form --- from what I gather those were supposed to be sent in to MINI weren't they?
I recently got my mid-life crisis hands on an 06 JCW. My kit # is S11636. It has a birth certificate, and I think it said March.
I've got the Mulroney....Malrony.....Bologna...the window sticker that says its got the LSD. Can also confirm JCW was a $6300 option. So is mine a factory JCW?
Has a $34,000 sticker! But no Bluetooth option. Thanks Obama
I'm about to get my mid life crises hands on an '06 R53 JCW with kit 11615, pretty close to yours. Mine was built in January if I read it correctly. TL20767 if anyone wants to poke their head around it.

Congrats on the JCW!
Good spec on that car --- LSD and sports suspension plus, not to mention the mega-rare leather dash + downtubes, also add anthracite headlining and you got a pretty rare bird there.
