Power socket question....

The power socket under the center cluster of my 2018 JCW is handy for my new dash cam. But it appears the power socket is live all the time even after I leave the car, close the door, and lock the car.

While I can configure the dash cam to shut down when it detects a battery voltage below a certain level I would prefer the socket just power down.

Printed owner manual and the digital manual (accessible by the LCD control) doesn't cover the power socket in any real detail.

Can anyone confirm the socket is powered all the time even when the engine is off and even when the car is locked?

Have to admit I peered in at the dash cam and its LEDs remained on even after I locked the car so I don't hold much hope the socket powers down.

Nevermind... answered my own question...

Went to lunch and parked/locked the car for a few minutes.

When I came back to the car and unlocked and got in the dash cam indicated it had just powered up.

Drove to a tool store and after a few minutes returned to the car with the same behavior.

So, it appears the power socket does power down at some point after I lock the car.

It takes about 30 seconds. Once you turn off the car, the Accessory power is still on. Once you open the door, the Accessory power shuts down, with a few bits, like the power plug and a couple others still active for a moment.

You can recode it to power down when you open your door.

Maybe it's because I have the alarm, but mine shuts everything down about 30 seconds after I lock it and activate the alarm. Weird.
