Clip gnomes.
You left out the $*(#% fire ants, they may be the worst thing of all.
With all of the rain that there's been in Miami, I've caught several of the f!@!ers in my living room seeking out higher ground.
Dinan engineering has been super responsive and work hard to address this issue. They have been great. I'll report back after we figure it out.
Will be sending them the freeze frame data form my 2016 JCW to Dinan when I installed the Elite, but here it is if anyone is curious on the CEL and engine shutoff on startup. The fuel pressure levels are just way off and when I install the bypass it's back to normal.

issue fixed!
Dinan overnighted me a new elite unit and harness. I just installed it tonight and it worked perfectly. I drove it around a bit and there were no issues. Drivability is excellent and the power gains are unreal on the JCW.
I think I just happen to get a bad unit.
I think I just happen to get a bad unit.
Or did they reprogram the unit to compensate?
Mini wants to update my DME to the latest, according to a recall.
Wonder if my Dinan Sport will then work properly?
I have the Dinan Sport module set to Sport+ (3 PSI) and today I got a P12A9 code - Boost Pressure Sensor, plausibility, shutdown phase : Pressure too high
My Mini was in for service recently and I believe they updated the DME.
I've reset the code and set it to 2 PSI, will see if it throws a code again. No other mods apart from the Dinan unit.

Did you remove the Dinan BEFORE you took it to the dealer for the recent service and then re-install when you got your MINI back from the dealer?
Have you contacted Dinan tech support and, if so, what did they have to say?
Thanks.
Please keep us updated.
Couple of questions.

Haven't contacted tech support yet, going to see if it comes back or if it was a fluke. Didn't notice any performance issues either.
They sent me a new unit. I have the latest update for my DME and it seems to work fine.
Going to run it in Sport for a few days. If there's no code I'll go back to Sport+, if there's a code I'll go to stock to see if it happens without the box.
No code yesterday, with plenty of full throttle.

Something has been tickling in the back of my old, weak brain -- a memory of reading about faulty charged air pressure sensors throwing codes??? Certainly would want to make sure there isn't a faulty sensor before worrying about the tuning box.

But they insisted on a mandatory DME software upgrade. Stated it was a recall.
But I don't see it on the MINI recall database.
Lets see how Dinan does after that.
Getting Mini to call something a "recall" is like pulling teeth. They prefer call it a TSB or "service enhancement". There is a copy of this particular TSB on the forum, but I can't put my finger on it at the moment. I printed it out to give my dealer the last time I went in for service, but they already had it flagged for the work.
A TSB is a diagnostic aid. For a particular issue that is common across a line of vehicles.
The repair suggested can be used, but if other methods work, then they are used.
A TSB does not have to be performed at the consumers request.
I have had a few published in the past for Volvo, when I was a tech.
A Recall is a federally mandated safety repair, and is not optional.
I was told this was a "Recall".

NOT TSB.
A TSB is like the lower control arm popping. Its a common issue that someone found a remedy. It will be performed IF car owner complains of noise. Will not be done past warranty unless car owner pays for it.
You can not go in and demand it to be done.
SERVICE ACTION: Voluntary Internal Recall. MINI will to this to every car that comes in.

Recall, Service Action, TSB
All that really is of concern in this thread - does the DINAN work correctly after the "procedure", especially in Sport+ or Race Mode. Anyone know the answer at this point?
I don't think anyone has a solid answer yet about the Dinan sport piggyback working correctly after the software update. It seems like there may be an issue but all we have to go on is 1 or 2 people reporting an issue. Also if it was the software update from Mini causing the issues why would it only affect the Dinan sport piggyback? All of these piggybacks work the same, some just with more features than others, but they all raise the boost the same.
What really pisses me off, is that this should have been done BEFORE delivery, as stated.
My car falls into that window, the car was delivered to the dealer February 2017, the bulletin was dated April 2017, I took delivery July 2017. Another strike for Alexander MINI. The PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) was pretty much non existent. They should have heard the noise in the lower control arms, and remediated the issue prior to delivery.
Avoid their service department.
There goes my coding!!!

shenanigans.
