Since the Mini network is small, how far do you have to drive for maintenance and service under warranty and which part of USA do you live?

Did you go for a lease or bought the car?

I live 10 minutes away from MINI of Kennesaw and work less than 5 minutes away, my dealer gave me a free car wash sticker so I will go by there during lunch and get it all nice and clean. I live just north of Atlanta, GA. I bought my 2015 MCS used with 8000 miles on it.

I've worried about this shopping for a mini. If I have a falling out with the dealership the next one is very far away. Local dealer is 10 miles away. One after that is 100 miles but is owned by the same company. Next one is 180 miles away.
Normally when shopping for a car I can compare dealerships or have them compete for business. Much harder to do with mini.

I admired Mini Coopers from afar for a long time as the nearest dealership was a couple hours away but when a dealership opened about five miles from my house I bought one.

I live on Dauphin island, AL and nearest dealer is in Pensacola , FL. That's about an 80 mile drive or around 1 1/2 hours. Thankfully no unusual visits have been required and service requirements are less frequent than some other vehicles I have owned. So far so good! 2016 JCW. Moonwalk gray with black top.

I bought mine at a dealer 3 states and 10 hours away. Now the closest dealer is 4 hours and one state away. Luckily in 12+ years it's only been back to the dealer twice. Once for the free oil change, and once for an emissions recall.

100 miles to Phoenix for me. I bought my first Mini in 2007 in Scottsdale. No problems with service, they even towed mine there with a bad fuel pump. Since then Mini has opened dealerships in Tempe and Tucson.

I live in the in the Philly suburbs. I have 5 MINI dealers within an hour of my house with the closest being about 15 miles away. I can hit another 4 dealers if I'm willing to drive 2ish hours.

I'm about 120 miles from each of the dealers in my area. If I go east on I-70 it is Mini of St. Louis. If I go west it is Baron Mini in Kansas City. I found out after making a service appt at Mini of StL that they do not install genuine Mini parts if you don't buy from them so be warned. No big deal. I'm on my way to KC Friday morning.

Within 50 miles I have 3 to choose from. Closest is 20 miles. There is another one way out east. I'm on Long Island. Why they did that I will never know

This is real devotion to the Mini brand to travel 4 hours so far to go for service........ and you also have to comeback.

What is the sales pitch for somebody to be convinced to buy a new car that cannot be serviced locally under warranty? I am curious.

Before I moved to WA, I never had in my entire life to drive more than 15 miles or 30 minutes to the nearest dealer of any brand I bought.

The Mini ownership seems a real dedication to the brand.

Well, I kind of live in the middle of nowhere, so I took the chance. The only dealerships close to me are Ford, Toyota, and Honda, all of which have lack of character. The Mini has been great, like I said, has only been to the dealer twice, and have been able to do all the maintence work myself. It's actually a very easy car to work on.

I knew in 2001 when I saw the new Mini being tested here that I had to own one. Really didn't matter where the dealer was.

My dealer delivered my '15 to my house, 80 miles away from the dealership. They're delivering a loaner Monday and picking up my car for crankshaft bearing recall. Good people to deal with and the parts guy gives be good prices plus club and military discounts. Good coffee... what's not to like about Flow Mini of Raleigh? Except maybe the high labor charges, but I only use the service dept. for warranty work.

This is real customer service and for good reason......... major engine problem.

They want to make sure to sell you another one soon LOL. Which engine has this issue?

KC > STL

And my dealer is 10-15 minutes away from my house here in Las Vegas, even though I try not to go there as much as possible.

They will probably just drop the engine and put a new one. It is a lot cheaper for them.

This is pretty bad news so early for a new engine series if shared with the other BMW products.

I disagree, the m62 v8 had something almost as bad, and is generally consiredered amazing, see e39 m5. This won't cause a problem at all, and you better believe no BMW in America will have this issue, which is why they released on MINI first.
