What is the difference ?
Hi guys,
JCW kit part number to 01/04: 11 12 0 395 130
JCW kit part number from 01/04: 11 12 0 395 128
What is different in the 2 kits?
Here is the issue: my car was built Nov 16th 2003. So I'd need the kit 11 12 0 395 130. My research tells me the kit is not available anymore. But 11 12 0 395 128 is still available, but this is for after 01/04. So I'm wondering what the difference between the 2 kits is.
Thanks!

The only difference in the two kits is the cat-back exhaust.
The center pipe just before the split to the back boxes was somewhat flattened:
This was done so it would clear an undercarriage brace on the MINI Cooper S Convertible.
This kit is outrageously expensive ... around $6K plus 10.5 hours labor to fit
Much much cheaper to go aftermarket, starting with 15% supercharger reduction pulley, small drive belt and one-step colder spark plugs.

Thanks guys for the quick anwser! So this is the only difference? From my understanding it would fit my pre 01/04...
Well, you are probably right... I mean, at this point the car Worth $6000 if I find the right buyer because it's super low millage and stored in the winter...
I already have the 15% pulley reduction, cold air intake, one grade cooler spark plugs and the Detroit Tuned bypass valve.
What is the next step? A ECU tune ?

Before a tune you would want to finish any power mods you plan to do, like exhaust. At the same time as the tune you could also do injectors as the stock ones run at a pretty high duty cycle with a pulley and cam.
It depends on how far you plan on going with it, but I would do a tune last.

With your mods a JCW Kit buys you nothing (except exhaust and larger injectors).
Adding more horsepower will be become more and more expensive. Exhaust, cam plus larger injectors and headwork.
As previously stated ...

Well, how far do I want to go. I guess not so far.
Beside what I listed earlier, everything is stock on the car or accessories from BMW/Mini
It's my "toy", my summer car. I bought it brand new in 2003 and as of today there is only 55000 miles on it.
I want to keep it reliable, I'm never on the track, I want it fast and I don't want to stay stuck on the side of the road.
I don't like loud exhaust; I want the car to go, not to be heard and noticed
From there I don't know what to do

I have the same mods like you: 15%, deflapped JCW intake (bought it used from a salvage yard), jcw plugs, dt bypass valve. If you want to go with factory parts, I would recommend you to get the back section of the jcw exhaust and get a muffler shop to fit it to your stock exhaust. (if it's too loud for you without the resonator you can always buy the mid section and put it on the car) It's recommended to get 450cc/550cc + tune to make everything work together and for better reliability (15% pulley pushes your injectors pretty hard). This is what I'm planning to do. It will be a lot cheaper and you'll still have OEM quality parts on your car.
For me you'll get more than enough power for a fwd car with that setup. If you add a cam, header, polished head, you will need a lsd in the gearbox too, plus a stronger clutch. Also a good suspension and brakes.

Unless you plan to fit a cam or modified head, the JCW (380cc) fuel injectors plus a tune should suffice.
