R56 JCW Rear Brake Caliper's

Brought my R56 JCW Hardtop in to do the rear brakes and found out that the rear calipers are shot. Does anyone have a good source for the rear Brembo calipers without having to go through the dealer at $300 a corner?

If you need the JCW brake calipers they are listed here as well as all the hardware.

Piston OD? Oil line?

I can understand for the front ones that seem real Brembo.

When it was time to put new rotors on my R56S, I bought a set of brackets from WMW and used my regular S rear calipers (along with larger rotors to fill out the wheels better). I was under the impression that the S and JCW have the same rear calipers (except for being Red on the JCW).

They are red, that is the only difference. That is why we offer the rotor conversion kit. It allows you to use the larger rotors with your stock calipers.

Same, just painted red.

Well they are not the same, you can not put a rear 280mm disc on a standard MCS.

That's why JCW rear brakes are red and can have 280mm discs instead of a 259mm like in regular Cooper S.

The calipers are the same except for the color. The brackets that mount the calipers are different, which is what allows the larger rotor to be used.

Both vendor responses are correct, I've run the WMW kit without issue, and not changed the calipers.

Have fun,
Mike

I mean the whole kit, if someone exchange the fronts for jcw kit and want to have 280mm disc on the back then no it is not the same. JCW rear kit needs to be installed to.

I know that calipers are the same just the color is red, but you can not just do plug&play with bigger discs on MCS, it will not fit.

So either a whole jcw rear kit or bigger brackets for stock rear MCS, that what I meant.

Another question, fronts are brembo rears are trw, but there is also o set for rears made by brembo, are those from GP?

I have not seen the rears with the GP2 by brembo, just the same red painted ones on the factory JCW brakes TRW version. 34216784645 and 34216784646

The newest F56 JCW has the rear Mando calipers that are single piston also. 4 pistons on the front F56 JCW are Brembo.

I had factory 16" wheels with the JCW brackets and rotors. No clearance issues.
