Chrome to Black

So after my first mod - the stubby - I got to getting rid of the ruinous chrome.

Thought I'd share a couple of before and after shots, to show how much better it looks!

I guess I'm only allowed to upload three photos though, so I'll try to do some side-by-side comparisons, two at a time...

And I guess that'll do for now, since it's such a pain in the **** to do them all separately.

But I thought I'd at least leave the last shot as the final 'after'...for now anyway!

What did you use for the belt line? The Outmotoring tape? It looks really good!

If you do the belt line, use electric tape that's the same width!

Way cheaper solution, and you get tons! I remember a member telling me his was going strong after a year.

Yeah. It's pretty tight as far as width goes - barely covers the chrome. So even professionally installed there's a couple of spots where a tiny bit of chrome is showing here and there, but generally they did a really good job - especially cutting the sections so that the end is neatly flush. I wouldn't have done as near a good job on my own, but then I am cackhanded as hell!

I do think the outmotoring tape looks a little nicer than electrical tape would - just a better match to the other vinyl aspects, and with good adhesion. And in the grand scheme of modifications 12 bucks is not much to spend, with a good amount to spare if you screw up. I'm sure electrical tape could do the job too, but not sure how it would hold up in the long run.

But to each their own. All I know is it really ties the rest of the car together nicely, losing that chrome break in the middle of the black fluidity!

Hey Way,
I went to the site and got confused.
Please help this NeWb MINI owner.
The pictures on the site show the turns on the lower grill?
I thought my turns up in the headlight housing?
I know I'm going to get razzed, but my fogs are in the lower grill.
I'm very interested in getting the yellow (egg) look off the front end.
Guess I should have someone help me check out my cars lights......lol

Thanks
