We still don't know if the calipers are the same but we know for sure all the other parts are - which suggests they probably are the same calipers other than the colour. Did the JCW CM & Cooper S CM you drove have the same amount of brake wear - I couldn't detect much difference when I drove both.

One thing is for certain - the 4 pot & 6 pot brembos MINI use on the hatch are in a different league.

They were both brand new cars. Same day. Driven back to back.

I'm bringing this back from the dead! Pretty certain there's nothing special about these JCW calipers over S models other than the red paint and logo. That's damn sad considering the insane cost they ask for the JCW CM/PM.

Thus far all the parts I've been able to cross ref indicate the base model Countryman rotor is 294mm, and all S and S ALL 4 models are 307mm.

All calipers are the same 54mm bore. (same caliper, different carrier to mount it)

I don't yet see any reference to anything being specific to the JCW. And personally have not seen any rebadged four pot Brembos on one. Maybe it's out there but we just aren't seeing any buyers.

I think the full blown kits remain the best bang for the buck, (shameless plug I know..) considering what you get vs some paint and a decal. My guess however is that newer cars may well get such a kit as a JCW option in the future as the cars did some years ago.

It's ashame the CM/PM JCWs don't come with the big brake kits like my Coupe did. It had the big red brembos from the factory while the S models didn't. Not sure why its different with these models.

On that note does anyone know if the Gp2 6 pot calipers will fit a JCW PM/CM?

Yes, the GP2 calipers will fit with 19" OEMs on the R60/R61. Good luck getting them out of the factory, though. No supply even with a valid VIN. Requires a MANDATORY core exchange. So, no real way to get them yet.

I have connections and even I can't get a set for my project R60 in the sig.

That's a bummer but it figures. Never mind you can get pretty much every other GP "exclusive part" out there. Aren't these the same brakes on one of the BMW models? Wonder if it'd be possible to get them that way. In all honesty though there may actually be better aftermarket calipers out there. I'm just not sure what those might be.

Yes, these can be found on another BMW model. Exact same caliper with a different mounting strategy.

We spent a lot of time trying to make those run on the R60 platform, but it was scrapped due to being too expensive to R&D. It's certainly not a direct swap, and there are adapters involved, etc.

Also, have to sandblast the logo, etc.

According the installation Both GP and JCW R56 seems work, apparently they require custom size Brembo brake disc... which not sure the size....

Not entirely sure what you meant there, but the rotor sizes are as follows:

Countryman = 294mm
Countryman JCW = 307mm
R56 JCW BBK = 316mm
GP2 BBK = 330mm

I honestly haven't gotten in depth on the brake setup for the JCW CM/PM but I've paid enough attention to know the front brakes are not the normal JCW brembos. I'm curious if the front JCW calipers are just S calipers painted red or are they unique to the jcw's?

The R60 S/JCW and R61 S/JCW, side-by-side, are same calipers and discs. The pad compound may be different, but there are no other physical differences except for the red paint and logo.

Same goes for the rear.

That's correct. Any of those sizes can be had in the 5x120, but you will need to fabricate a proper mount for the R56 BBK.

The GP2 BBK is a direct-fit.

I think the easier way to upgrade properly would be to get a Group Buy going with Todd @ TCE. Thoughts on that, Todd?

You assumed that by "Countryman" I also meant "Countryman S" - this is not the case. All Coopers are not Cooper S models.

The Countryman does, indeed, have 294mm discs. The Countryman S and JCW share the 307mm disc.

Once again I'm dragging this thread from the dead! I finally got around to actually looking at the make and model number of the JCW CM calipers and they're definitely not Brembo. They're made buy TRW and I'm pretty sure the the same caliper used on the later R56 S'.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but I am picking up a JCW countryman this weekend. From my research and the tid-bits of information around, this is what I am concluding.

You can install the GP2 6 pot calipers on the JCW Countryman but I would assume that the problem is the lug patterns on the rotor. If you found a 330mm rotor with the 5x120 lug pattern, it should mate to the GP2 caliper and fit on the car?

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Yes I'm wondering the same thing, I have found GP2 calipers for sale but do not know about the caliper mounting point? (brakets) fits r60? Are you sure it's a direct fit to the countryman?

Can someone please confirm?

thanks
