New clutch, light pedal?

Just had a new OEM clutch installed in my '09 JCW and it is a LOT easier to push than previously. The part number on the invoice is correct and the dealer said they use the vin to pull the correct parts so I am pretty sure I have a JCW clutch and not an "S". Anyone else experience the same thing?

I just dropped my 2010 MCS off at the dealership and they gave me a 2012 (or 2013) JCW loaner, and I'm finding this clutch much easier to push and smoother travel. Does the clutch get harder to push with age? Not trying to hijack the post, but I think both of us are after the same answer.

The clutch definitely changed somewhere between 08 and 10, it because a lot lighter. Maybe they put the new spec clutch in, not the old spec.

I just had my clutch replaced on my Clubman S. Pedal is WAY easier to push in now after the swap.

SA told me they are using the JCW clutch in ALL clutch jobs. I just wanted to confirm that the easy pedal is not due to a tech who grabbed a Justa clutch.
I think I am not only good...I am better.

Edit: Just went to ECS Tuning.com and saw that BOTH the JCW and Cooper S utilize the same part number now for an OEM Clutch:

I asked about this. The part numbers are exactly the same. Warn clutches are heavier on most car's I've ever driven.

They probably gave you the 2013 JCW clutch which according to my SA is different than any other. In fact he told me they just got a service bulletin to use a 2013 JCW clutch for any warranty clutch replacement on the Countryman. I do know that the clutch on my 2013 JCW is way easier than the clutch was on my 2012 Clubman S, and engages closer to the floor, plus has a much smoother engagement.

I have a 2012 JCW and just drove a GP, clutch was waaay lighter, like night and day.

Not better or worst, but definitely different.

Confirm lighter clutch in my 13 Coupe S as well.

And clutch will get heavier with age (mine did). As the pressure plate wears away and spring becomes harder, so will the clutch.

I just had my clutch replaced on my 2010 jcw. While it was being replaced I was driving my 2003 MINI Cooper S wow what a difference. It took them about two weeks to replace the clutch on JCW and it seems way easier.

I thought the springs lost their spring and it loosened up over time. That is what happened with my Audi.

Generally pressure plate springs get work hardened with age as they stress under heat and pressure.

Was your Audi chipped? After chipping my b5A4 my clutch started slipping (as I knew I would..) and I had to upgrade to a stage II clutch..

The new clutch was much lighter than it had been.

No. It is a v6 and chipping was low gain.
