JCW suspension upgrade?

Hey Guys,

I am seriously considering upgrading my current suspension setup on my R56. I currently have the sport package along with Eibach lowering springs. While I'm very happy with how this setup looks and feels on perfectly paved roads I am beginning to believe the rough northeast roads are not cooperating with my current setup. Also, I've been told that I may be due for new shocks/struts. I have just under 60,000 miles on my car right now.

I was originally thinking of adding Koni FSD's in conjunction with my Eibach springs but have heard conflicting opionions of whether it is recommended or not...

SO... I am thinking of moving towards a less aggressive setup - JCW full suspension. The big downside here is the cost. I was quoted about $2,500 for parts/labor and an alignment for the JCW suspension and springs.

I'm not thrilled with this cost but feel that it will be a more attractive option once I decide to sell the car down the road. Also, it will most likely give me a more comfortable ride without sacrificing sporty handling.

Any thoughts / suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks,
Steve

Double check with Koni, but I believe that they are not recommending with the use of lowering springs.

Check around, the price may be lower elsewhere - might be worth the road trip. When I looked JCW suspension with my JCW, I received widely different quotes with $2500 being the high end - but I have 6-8 dealerships within 1.5 hrs drive. In the end I figured I would stick with sports suspension for $250 for now. But JCW suspension is on my list of wants some day.

Prices are flexible. Check Morristown MINI for example. Looking at approx $2K installed, including alignment. My local dealer matched their price.

Certainly not an inexpensive mod, but when you consider struts + springs + front and rear sway bars + installation + alignment + warranty, well you see how it adds up quickly.

I am planning for the JCW suspension too, just may wait until after winter.

$2500 is way too much. I had it done at the dealer for $1700 installed and aligned. And I've seen a few people get out for 2-300 less.

I just received a quote of about $2,350 from Morristown Mini...I guess I will have to start shopping around!

This is the price that I was quoted by Patricks in Schaumberg when I got my JCW last year. I passed on that now, but rather wish that I'd have gone with it now, but money being money, I was at my limit at that time.

Steve, me too. What are the thoughts on a JCW upgrade. Koni's, or to go with the coil overs? I've got a set of H&R springs that I thought I'd use if I went with the Koni's, but now need more information.
