JCW MCS vs JCW
Then thats not apples to apples. Its still a 30whp difference for me here then.
Tell me about it, however all we can do is to try to educate, and those that want to listen to experience, will, and the rest will simply think they know best, spend money they really haven't got, to find out, oh **** it doesn't work, mmm should have listened to those that have done the testing, and knows what works and what doesn't, and find themselves in a position of being $$$ and $$$ out of pocket, with parts that don't really work to the optimum, and nobody else will want the parts either!
But who are we to say!!!

You can also buy a used car dirt cheap and put in a new built engine and make more power and say how everyone wasted money too I guess. Kids do that with $5k Civics all the time.
What about for those who dont' want to swap out the turbo and want to keep the warranty. Mini isn't exactly known for its reliability.

And then of course you have JCW owners that say no way, my JCW is faster than anything....So I had to correct them.
And you have JCW owners that think their motors are made out of un-obtainium....just educating folks that the MCS shares most of the same engine components.
And I still have a warranty by the way.
Or maybe it is down to how i used my engine from new, and how I use it every time I drive it, and with premium grade fuel too, that it produces good results!
I have never nor do I treat my engine to a nice gentle carry on, it was built for a purpose, and so that's how i drive it, and with almost 20,000 miles on it, just 2.5 litres of additional top up oil only, i've not had a moments problem with the engine, although that said, i have very recently had the timing tensioner/chain/guides and sprocket changed under warranty, apart from that it's been perfect.
Well considering the original poster was asking what he can do to his MCS to bring it to JCW power levels......we responded accordingly.

A JCW is great for someone who wants a hot rod out of the box. But some of us like to do our own mods, wrench our own engines and maybe save some money (maybe not?)
I think you can tweak a Cooper S and get the same performance and reliability out of it as a JCW and maybe save some money with sweat equity.

Worked a deal tonight ordered a 2011 JCW Hardtop, Black/Black/Black. Trading the 2010 in when it arrives. My S was more of a stripper so I was willing to but a few K into her but in the long run it lacked everything I wanted. Key- Upgraded Clutch, LSD. Exhaust- Full warrranty, HK w/sirus, Adapt Xenon, Heated Seats. Going to put my Black Jack Mirror covers on her
and two Flat Black Racing Stripes with most likely Silver or Grey thin outline pin striping. Spending about the same to buy the 2011 as it woudl to mod the 2010 and I got everything I wanted in addition for an extra $100 a month.
