Very Disappointed in Crevier Mini. JCW Suspension

I bought a 2008 MCS about a month and a half ago from Crevier Mini and I was very satisfied with the people and the whole transaction. A few weeks later I decide I want to get the JCW Sport Suspension, I order it from Crevier Mini at $1550.00, I know a bit pricey but from what I have read its worth it.
Then today I called Crevier to make an appointment to get my Jcw Suspension Installed. I about had a heart attack on how much the guy quoted me for install. A UNREAL $1650.00.
Thats more than I flippin paid for my whole kit, Thats a total of $3200.00....
I went and picked up my suspension because there is no way Im paying that much for install.
So if anyone knows of a good place to go in the Orange County area I would really appreciate the help.

Amazing. I bought the JCW suspension from Morristown MINI in January of 2009. I paid $1000 for it and had them install it for about $380 if I remember correctly. I think MINI says the install time is 4 hours. They also charged me a rip off price of $200 for an alignment which their out sourced shop did not do a great job on.

I would hit up some of the other MINI dealers in your area for a better price on doing the install..

It looks like my dealership is quoting about $1,930 total for parts and installation. (Parts without installation is about $1125...if that helps).

Have you noticed the difference onefish2?

Noticed it right away. The ride was much firmer and harsh with those darn run flats. Then I got rid of the run flats and the ride is much more bearable.

I also replaced the 18.5mm rear sway bar that comes with this kit with the H-Sport competition rear sway bar. It's a hollow 25.5mm bar that acts like a solid 22mm bar. I have it set on the softest setting and this set up works nicely for me.

If I had it to do all over and knowing what I know now I would have gone with coil overs and the same H-Sport rear sway bar.

Newport Beach to North Hollywood doesn't seem too far to save that much cash. Heck, I drive up to Orange County and LA from San Diego to have work done on my MINI.

When I drove out from Fontana to his old shop in Van Nuys, he took me right in and had me back on the road within an hour. He installed 4 new Mach IV springs on my R56. The guy is a mini owner, tracks a mini, and is worth the drive, IMO. The dude knows his suspension stuff, and that sounds like what you need.

I just received this email because of this post i put up. I will leave the name anonymous but I just thought I would share it with everyone.
I kind of feel like Im being spied on ha.

"Hi Aldenator,
My name is BLANK and I am the Customer Service Manager at Crevier Bmw/Mini. After I read your post I checked on the price you were quoted to make sure it was correct and after double checking I found that it is accurate. (Front and rear shocks and front and rear stablizer bar). These JCW suspension kits require extensive install considering all four shocks need to be removed and to replace the stablizer bar the sub frame has to come out. Please contact me at your convenience so we can discuss this matter further."

BS. Its a 4 hour install plus the cost for the alignment. Let them know that they lost your business due to to their extreme greed.

Exactly... the quote may be "accurate," but it's also "accurate" to say they're 2-4 times MORE expensive than some other installers.

I mean, I would expect the dealer to be more expensive, and it might be worth it to pay a little more, but not THAT much more.

I paid the following at Morristown MINI in January of 2009

The following was just copied from the invoice for parts and labor:

$1050 for the JCW suspension
$460 for 4 hours labor to do the install - Labor rate $115 per hour
$200 alignment
Plus tax

It's good thing that they're reading things like this. It could point out to them how off the market they are on the price of the install.

Have you called around to get another quote from different dealer?

Here is my personal opinion and seems to be the opinion of many owners in the area. Dont use Crevier. They are very overpriced. Try out Irving Mini and see what they have to say. I think a few of the techs at Irvine Mini are also members of the Socal Mini Maniacs group as well. Or another good place that is near us is

I stopped by their shop the other day. Very impressive! If you plan to go down there let me know. I need to head that way myself. I work in newport and live in tustin. If I had a garage myself I would say bring it on over and I would help you out.

Thanks everyone! I went to Minicorsa today to get it installed by Danny, his place was kind of scattered but it was because he was moving to a bigger shop. Danny is a great guy, very friendly and great prices, out the door for $450. He even let me hang out the whole time to watch and take some pics. I would highly recommend him for sure. The drive from Newport Beach does suck with all the traffic though.
