JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 2nd Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs are discussed.
I remember reading about this on MotoringFile and would like to retro-fit a black beltline if it ever happens. I've heard more about black wheels, but nothing about trim.
All those decisions they made on the Crossover must have affected their design sensibilities. Or they're spending too much time getting the convertible's "Openometer" graphics just right.
If mini was smart the would offer any color combinations a buyer wants meaning belt lines, arches, wheels, emblems, headlight + tail light rings, ect...

If they did that the price of the car would be even higher than it already is. Part of keeping the cost of vehicle production down is by using parts that can go on all models.
I would love a black belt line as well, but I really think the amount of custom options they offer are already are enough. I mean really, how many other cars do you know that even have roof color choices?
This is quite possibly the easiest mod there is. Why would anyone pay factory costs to do so? For around $13 you can buy the vinyl from OutMotoring, as well as a plethora of other vendors. There is no reason for anyone who wants a black belt line not to have one.

Very good point. Perhaps they are looking for the parts to be black and not just be wrapped. . . . maybe? I don't know, but very true.

Exactly, I would like the part to be molded black. Not just black tape applied to the surface that will eventually peel off and look like crap and need to redone.
I have purchased the $13 roll of tape and will apply in the next week. I would just like a higher quality factory option.
I understand completely, but a good vinyl tape, applied properly, should last 5+ years. Without bringing the entire production to an inefficient mess, I would not expect this option anytime soon.
