JCW JCW slotted disc brakes...
JCW slotted disc brakes...
Have anyone done the JCW disc break to their car...<only the disc break, not the JCW red caliper>
What's the difference of breaking and handling???
I would like to put it to my cooper non s..
Thank u very much..

Well you will have to have the JCW calipers or at least get Cooper S calipers to fit the JCW Disc BRAKES to your Cooper. I've got them and there is some improvement but I fitted SS brake hoses as well so its difficult to say. But over your cooper brakes you will definitely feel a difference.
Ah I didn't catch that he had a Cooper. Anyways, unless you really like the looks of them or are taking your MINI to the track, I think drilled rotors in general are a waste since they have tendencies to crack and the MINI already has great brakes. The advantage of the drilled rotors are more pad fade resistance and maybe *sightly* less unsprung weight. Otherwise if you need a better braking solution, I'd go for some slotted rotors with the appropriate pads to match.
not taking over this topic, but I am also in the market for new front rotors for my 2007 cooper s. they are the same size as the jcw's but besides oem or jcw's I yet to find any manufacturer that makes rotors for the coopers s'.
If anybody know's for a fact who has them, please let me/us know!
Thanks.

Unless you are tracking the car where you need to remove debris from the rotors and water quickly, really not going to see much...you could slap on some Hawks or ceramic pads or rotors and get better bite...PS...slotted discs will wear down the pads faster and discs drilled are a source of cracking or failure...check that...COULD be a source. honestly....you don't track it, you don't need it. But spend your money how you want....
just want to know if anyone has the part # for JCW drilled rotors?
i have order a set from Morristown MINI, for me it looks like they have sent me TWO Driver Side rotors (Part#34 11 6 777 826).
Just want to know if passanger side has use the same one.

My .02 into the slotted / drilled debate.
I am partial to slotted even if they are the same size as stock. They keep the pads clean which all but eliminates scoring. Because of that, the surface area stays consistent for both wheels, so as they age you don't get any pulling. The extra bite due to the escape path for the gasses makes up for the reduced swept area in fade resistance, and they are the best out of all three in the rain (if the groove extends all the way off the rotor).
Drilled can crack but it is caused by thermal cycling the cast iron which inherently already has cracks in it anyway. The thermal cycling simply causes the cracks to grow so you can see them. All cast iron rotors would eventually do this if exposed to the same conditions. Although yes the drilled holes act as a defect or starting point for the crack and there is more visible surface to see the cracks. However, it is the extremely hot and cold swings in temp that cause it over time. You simply cant get them hot enough to do this on the street so it is practically a non issue. But drilled rotors do score so they pull with age.
Stock? there is always room for improvement over stock. But in regular daily driving, a single panic stop while cold, they work good enough. Stock does have the most swept area so as long as you are not going fast enough to generate gasses it works as good if not better under those conditions (which is probably 90% of the time). Cons are they score, pull and fade and do not have any cool factor!
