I live in an area where there are many MINI dealerships. I see MINIs every day. In the past 18 months I remember spotting less than 10 no the road. That is pretty exclusive to me. And I like it that way.

The car should come with the JCW aero kit. The car should come with the JCW suspension The car should come with the JCW steering wheel. It should have these things at bare minimum to distinguish it from a Cooper S. Just like BMW does with the M cars and Audi does with the S cars. When those cars drive by, you know they are more exclusive, more expensive versions with bigger engines and other re-worked parts.

2 JCW logo badges, a flag badge and door sills just do not cut it.

Its a different engine... perhaps there should be a JCW logo on it? I have a MINI logo on mine. The newer cars do not even have that.

MINI did a horrible job with the JCW sub brand and it looks like they are perpetuating it with the 2011 model year as well.

http://www.motoringfile.com/2010/06/...wer-increases/

I made my car into the JCW it should have been from the factory. I added the JCW suspension, JCW aero kit and most of the CF trim. And I spent a lot of money along the way.

Maybe I should have leased another 3 series BMW like the car I had before the MINI. It probably would have been cheaper.

Before:

After...

And I am still not done. More mods to come .
+1.

I agree. I also like driving a car that is very rare/unique. I see alot of Minis where I live, but have only seen one other factory JCW in the past 12 to 18 months.

There are people that are not into cars that would not be able to tell the cars apart (JCW Mini to a regular Mini, ZR1 Corvette to a regular Corvette, STI WRX to a regular WRX, etc.).

If a person knows about cars, he or she will know a factory JCW from a regular Mini, a ZR1 Corvette from a regular Corvette, a STI WRX from a regular WRX, etc.

I also agree that the JCW Aero Kit and the JCW Suspension should come with the car. But I think that BMW wanted to keep the starting price under $30,000.
Some people would have complained that a starting price of let's say $32,000 is too much for a Mini.
You can always add the JCW Aero Kit and JCW Suspension later on if you want.
I have the JCW Aero Kit on my car and it really makes it stand out. I was also going to buy the JCW Suspension, but I am going to buy Coilovers instead. The JCW Suspension does NOT have height adjustability.

I like that every Mini is different in some way. There are no two Minis alike.

Mark,

Did you paint the bottom portion of your rear jcw bumper a matte black? I just ordered the jcw aero kit (pre-painted) and don't want the bottom portion to be body color...nor do I want to spend the money for the jcw rear diffuser.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

I'm pretty sure I did. It's been so long because I transferred the kit to my '09 that I don't remember for sure..

Oh wait, I did because when I was painting the rear bumper assy, I painted everything blue figuring if I didn't like it, I could always satin black it out.

Sorry, old age.... They say the memory is the first, no second..no first... Oh, I don't remember.

Postman was nice with me today :

I hope to get this painted and installed this month, I'll keep you updated.
And I'm still hesitating on the JCW Carbon rear diffuser, does it really worth it?

Rear defuser

W.G. Hey, why not go for it. If worse came to worse, you could always sell it. No, it looks pretty nice but then again, I'm kind of a carbon fibre freak anyway.

I thought these came pre-painted nowadays. As for the diffuser, I got my stock one overlaid in real carbon fiber for $200. I couldn't justify paying $500 for such a small cosmetic piece... Looks nice!

And just for the record, D's carbon overlay piece looks FANTASTIC. I completely agree, 500 bucks is too much for an aesthetic thing.

You can buy them pre painted, but since I can get it painted for free, it was cheaper to buy it this way...

And yes, that's what make me doubt, 500$ for just the diffuser is quite a lot of money.
Can I ask you where you got your diffuser wrapped?

And it can take a hit too. All the clips popped out from the impact but it did not break.
