JCW Alcantara Boots w/OEM Shift ****/Handle?

Has anyone tried and/or does anyone know if it's possible to add the JCW shift boot and e-brake boot, but keep the OEM ****/handles?

I'm not so much a fan of the carbon fiber look, but I do have designs of the JCW steering wheel and if/when that mod happens I'd love to have fuzzy suede boots to match.

That's excellent news (for everyone but my friend Wallet)! I figured the e-brake boot would fit, but I didn't know if the JCW shifter was a different length which might cause problems.

buying the shift **** had a snowball effect for me. i didn't like how cold or hot the metal shift **** got so i got the jcw shift ****. of course if you do that then you have to get the matching e-brake handle. then since you have the **** and handle off at the time; might as well change the boots. of course ahd to get them alancantra to set them off. love the feel of that shift **** in suede!

RedlineGoods.com has:

"Faux-alcantara
This material is not genuine Alcantara, but it is almost identical in look and feel. Alcantara is a registered trademark of Alcantara S.p.A."

If you don't like cold (or hot) of a metal shift ****, wood is the ideal material.

good pitch on the wood ****, but i have to say in my opinion it doesn't look good. maybe if my car was 30 years old then it might fit the look.

Robin, your wood ***** look totally awesome, but I have a feeling they'd clash with the rest of my interior. Maybe I can send you some pictures and you can see if you think there's anything you could work with that might match.

Sure, send some photos. I'll put my Fine Arts degree to some use and offer some suggestions. Wood can work well in modern interiors. It just has to be done right.

Thread Hijack!!!!!

Speaking of the alacantra boots, mine just arrived today for my 08mcs. I am finding a lot of instructions of how to get those damn boots off for the R53 but not much for the R56.

Any help people?

Robin, I figured you would know this. Whats the best way to secure the boot to a shift ****? I have a whalen **** and it looks great but I cant fit the top of the boot over the bottom of the ****.

Man I think I used the word **** too much in this post!

I've ordered a set of Redline boots and will photograph and write up the process of installing them. They just shipped from Poland, so it will probably be a week or more before they arrive.

You shouldn't need to secure it. The boot should stay up by itself. Doug makes no accommodation for attaching the boot to the ****.

Fair enough! Im not looking for an install writeup however, as the new boots I ordered come with the trim rings already attached. I can just pop them in. I just need to know how to get the old ones out!`
