VDC-installed JCW Aero - what color is your diffuser?
For people that got the JCW Aero kit when you ordered and installed at the VDC - what color is your rear diffuser? Body color or black? I'm hoping it comes black, but some photos I've seen says otherwise. Thanks.
From factory, the "diffuser" (*cough*) is painted in your body colour.
In the JCW press shots it's black because it is meant to be black, but I think they decided it was be more cost-effective to paint it as one unit.
You could argue that you based your interest in the kit on that image (black diffuser) and as such they should deliver the product you were shown. In other words, don't just roll over and say "hmm, ok"!

We had a CR/B JCW here that had just about everything JCW on it that you could get. The diffuser on that car was carbon fiber, and it looked much better than body color.

Is painting it black something I can even ask to have done at the VDC? Will they accept this kind of request? I wonder how much it would cost to paint afterward...

I ordered my JCW kit from Morristown already painted. Looking at the boxes, the kit had a Pepper White part number so it was painted from either Mini or the VDC, not by the dealer. In anycase the diffuser is body color.
How much was that??? May be a future endeavor of mine. Do you plan on installing the kit yourself?
It was the price of the kit online plus $300 for paint, pretty reasonable. I have installed the side skirts and will eventually get to the bumpers and at that time I also have a set of driving lights. Just busy with other things right now.
How was installing the side skirts? That the primary piece of the kit that I want. Contemplating ordering just them actually.
Msteadman, the side skirts are the easiest to install by a long shot. It just involves cutting off a bunch of tabs from underneath, ripping the old ones off, and then inserting the new ones. Its like a big snap-together model to be honest.
Jesus I got quoted $850 to get mine painted and I considered that a fair deal!

Steadman,
I'll try to post a pic tomorrow, the skirts are the best part of the kit. They lower the car by about 1". After putting these on I'm rethinking whether I really need to lower the car any.
As for the install, other than freeking out about breaking a bunch of stuff to get them off, about 1 hour of work. My kit came with everything to put them back though.
Send a note to Rishon at Morristown.

Yeah, like I said, I'm pretty sure this kit was painted by MINI. The box labels had the paint color on them which I'm pretty sure the dealer wouldn't do. Also, they came fully assembled, all of the grills and black trim were mounted to the bumpers and skirts. Elsewhere I've seen folks have needed to put everything together.
I'll have to call Morristown when I get back see how much they charge just for the skirts pre-painted PW. Still on the fence about the bumpers. Very nice to know it effectively lowers the car. Although I'm guessing it doesn't do anything for that blasted wheel gap...
Looking forward to the pics!
