hey guys i finally received my 2007 mini cooper s JCW a couple weeks back ... but getting to the point when i'm idle it doesnt sound too good, i wouldnt really know because i never really heard another JCW at idle but it sounds as if there's ticking i cant really explain the noise and when i asked the dealership about it they said its the high-flow injectors with all the JCW's and its normal... is that true or are they trying to shoo me away... thanks alot.

 

Well... the direct fuel injectors do make a ticking sound. Pretty much all DFI cars do. Basiclly a solonoid clicking noise.

Have you listened to or driven an S? Should be there, too. The JCW is no different in that respect.

Now there are some other rattly issues out there... but I wouldn't want to risk A) boring... or B) scaring you with the details.

 

I have 07 Cooper S my ticking is DFI. Direct Fuel Injectors ticking just like MSH said!

 

My S sounds like it's about to blow, it ticks LOUD. I can hear it sitting at a light with the radio on. The dealer told me "they all do that, I won't even be able to hear it since it's warmed up now." Which - isn't true. I had them start up another S and it wasn't nearly as bad.
