Agree with others regarding the apples/apples comparison. Engine revving sounds a lot different than an exhaust note under load.

Even so, the JCW revving with a turbo sounds much different than that of a supercharger (gen 1).

I have the alta cat back. I drove to the city with a new friend (yeah she's really cute!) and somewhere around her 4th comment about the mini (all good) she said she really liked the sound of the mini. I let her drive it and then she said she really loved the way it sounds.

I'm also looking to install the cat back soon. Any clips or comments comparing the ALTA turbo back to just the cat back??? I want to go full turbo back but $1599.98 before shipping is VERY tough to swallow...

Well while I believe you, I don't know if my Dad (who is financing this since I paid for the MINI itself) will. Being a sophomore in college (and private at that) is tough.

But any comments on the sound of the cat back for those who have it? Also, has anyone added the downpipe after installing the cat back, or have all of you with the turbo back added both components simultaneously?

I know Adam said cat back is quieter than turbo back but is it still a nice step up from the stock sound??? I'll definitely do the turbo back eventually, just can't right now. So basically my question is whether it's better to only do the cat back now then add the down pipe in a couple months, OR wait and do the turbo back all at once come new year.

THANKS!

Yes we understand it is a chunk to chew at once. BUT it is worth it AND you can buy the cat-back first then upgrade the DP later on. So you can amortize out the pain to your (or fathers) wallet. It is truly a nice piece on the car. Sounds great, looks great and makes good power.

Let me know if I can ever help further!

QUOTE for those waiting for borla. howabout being the ones to post the first sound clips and dynos eh? http://borla.com/applications/lookup...System/140262/[/quote]

TRUE DOES ANYONE have a sound bite of the borla? And besides ALTA, can anyone vouch for the HP gains on ALTAs system?
I have numerous parts on my MINI from ALTA, They do make great stuff...EXPENSIVE!!! And theyre Shipping department has too often hiccups with reliability.
