Just wondering how everyone is liking it! I was thinking about getting it for my car, but I was hoping that it doesn't affect gas mileage horribly.

Anyone have JCW? What kind of mileage are you getting?

I have it and got about 35 mpg from NJ to Dc going 80. Great feel and sound. Well worth the money. Plus suspension - much nicer ride now. Solid and my 2 year old slept well most of the way. Sounds like a turboprop. Morristown had very good service and mechanic and parts people.

I like the warranty that comes with the JCW Kit, but I've wondered if 17 extra hp and 8 foot-pounds of torque is enough to justify the cost. Do you really feel the difference? My local retailer is about to install the kit on a MCS, however, they won't let anyone drive it since it isn't broken in yet.

I am less concerned about the numbers and wonder how it feels in real world driving situations...does it have more mid-range punch? Does it pull better thru the rev range, especially over 4500-500 rpm? Any comments would be appreciated.

ps.. I hear Gabe's car idling in front of mine in line for service the other day--sounded very good. Hopefully even better under power.

It does I'm going to go on a little drive Saturday up to Knauz to pick up a few parts. If you're around, I'd be happy to give you a drive. Or check out the JCW demo car they have - it should be available for test drives.

I hope it didn't sound like a Mexican Sportscar, i.e. all those flatulent-spewing rice burners ot there.

Gabe- are you still extremely satisfied with the JCW Kit?

Thanks for the offer, What time do you think you might be up there ? Tomorrow might be tricky but perhaps I could sneak away for a bit. I live a few miles south in Highland Park.

Olenick said their only other car with an installed kit had a deposit on it so it could not be test driven. Hopefully soon.

Probably between 11 and 12 if I had to guess.

Honestly I couldn't be happier. The exhaust note, the intake sound, the added throttle response, and the incredible pull all the way up to redline and seemingly beyond. I'm addicted.

Local dealer here in Virginia has one - drove it a week ago and YES you can feel the difference. Is it worth the $2450.oo my dealer is charging ,installed, only if you care about the warranty. If the only performance parts are BMW/Mini you have nothing to worry about. With after market you may have to worry, depends on your dealer. Checkerd Flag here in South East Va tells me they won't touch a car under warranty with after market parts. Yes you can change your oil filter and wipers but try the usual performance parts and you're outta luck! I'm not saying I agree at all and the M-M act is there but are you going to argue that fact when you have a rod sticking through the side of the block because a wrist pin went fooey (Yeah I know a bit absurd but it could happen) you'd be out a engine till you settled your case.
Just settled a Motorcycle accident case - My bike - took one month shy of 2 years. Ask any lawyer about Moss-Magnuson (SP?) act and how long to get a settlement. Think I'll stick with the JCW , just to be safe.

Gas mileage wise, I get better gas mileage with my Alta intake, exhaust, and intercooler, than stock.....even with the large increase in power....gotta love that. But I'm curious to check out a JCW car when they get one at my dealership, would be interesting to test drive it and make a comparison.

A dealer can't "Refuse to touch" a car just because it has aftermarket performance parts on it. I don't have a single stock engine component left and the dealer couldn't give a crap . If I blow my engine, that's a bit of a different story, but refusing to fix a broken window regulator or something because you installed a cold air intake is a bit silly .

Your car is under warranty, by LAW they HAVE to service the car.

JCW tuning

Morristown MINI installed mine for a total of $2022. Amazing how much some dealers will charge. They were great and did it on time.

Morristown is great - I've been buying from them for years. However it's worth noting that there are some dealers out there that will happily match their prices if you don't want to make the trip.

Considering that the full 2007 John Cooper Works kit retails for $2,100.00 plus a recommended 2 hours of labor for installation, $2,022 is a bargain. That's good to know in case I decide to have the kit installed.

Does anyone know what dealer cost is for the JCW Kit?

$2500 installed!! I'm in Canada and the dealer says $4300 inc. tax and install. I would easily pay the $2500.. Whatever prices you have in the US for Mini stuff, the Canadian price is usually 2 to 3 times that. Does anyone know if a US Dealer would install the JCW on a Canadian R56?
