mod or wait for JCW?

this stock muffler sucks, that's all I have to say about that

I cant decide, aftermarket mods and hope vishnu or unichip or someone else cracks the code

jcw and not deal with warentee issues that aftermarket parts and the dealer

I'm a 0-60 junkie, I'm sure aftermarket will be better once the chip is sorted out

throw on a magnaflow and wait for jcs? I just cant deal with this silent exaust

I have a custom made turbo back exhaust with magnaflow muffler, and its super loud just like a wild subaru it annoys me a bit but whoever sits next to me, cant believe the gain in power dsc activate even at 3rd gear Also got a custom made CAİ. İn my oppinion go for the after market rather than waiting jcw with less gain in hp, if you dont care about warranty.

0-60 junkie... its a fwd car. How does that one work? I like going sideways very fast myself. I vote for modding the current one. Bolt ons no tune the car runs like a raped ape. Current model all the way!

Have fun,
Josh

it works fine for me, these cars are pretty quick in stop/go traffic

but I have no interest in performance over 70mph, I simply do not drive that fast, the speed limit where I spend 90 % of my time is 45 mph

This car is extremely fast with a few mods, I really think its a waste to wait for the jcw model.

My $.02,
Josh

I'm thinking K&N intake setup, and a full complete exaust

I'm just stuck on that torque drop at 3k rpm, is that the ecu on these?

it seems like the ECU is a key to tuning them, and JCW may be the only route

I wouldnt want to spend 1500 $ for a full turbo back exaust, only to find I need the JCW kit for the reflash

I was gonna get the JCW engine kit, but I decided to, at least start, with the Alta turbo back exhaust...More power than JCW and should sound awesome, and very high quality. Also gonna do intake and probably ecu.

Would you even know about the dip if you hadn't seen a dynograph? I see it on the paper but I never actually feel it.

We just need something like this for the MINI and we'll be all set...

http://www.cobbtuning.com/products/?id=3120

It worked great on my WRX. Maybe somebody can call Trey Cobb and ask him to make one for our cars .

It might not be the only route as there's stuff on the horizon... but it'll be the only route that doesn't completely f#$k your warranty.

Throw a pipe on, no problem. Do a suspension drop, probably not too much to screw up there. Airbox... OK. But you flash that ECU or start doing chip modding and it effects the whole engine management system. Hell, on this car, the ECU controlls EVERYTHING. I can't think of too many dealers that would warranty much after that.

JCW 192 all the way!

I like the idea that the JCW Stage I kit maintains warranty, and gets the same mpg as the S, but it gets less than 12% more BHP and less than 4% more torque. Doesn't seem like much gain for the cost. Am I wrong?

Somewhat...

You have to look at where the kit is making the power. We'll only know that once the thing hits the market and we start seeing dyno graphs and driving the cars with the Stage I. Right now it's difficult to appreciate with the numbers put out so far.

My hope is that the kit will allow the car to breathe a bit easier and keep making that power up top where the current car levels off in the higher RPMs then tapers off up top.

IMO the R56S has shown that the driving experience is not necessarily represented by the raw numbers on paper. This is one car where its more than the sum of it's parts. The past JCW kits have always built upon this and I hoping the Stage I JCW 192 will be the same. We'll see soon enough.

Go on JCW's website cause they have dyno graphs of the stage 1 vs. stock.

Hmm, less BHP up to about 4,500 RPM where they are even. Then it increases to a peak around 6,000.

Like stock, torque is flat from <2K to around 5K and starts falling just a little later than stock.

It might be advantageous in racing, but will it give you much seat-of-the-pants improvement for street?

Thanks for the link. I was playing around there the last week and somehow missed the charts!

Much like comparing the R53 vs. R56 figures, the top bhp and torque figures on paper were not awe-inspiring... but how the car delivers that power is awsome. THE R56S vs. R56S JCW may hold similar suprises. We'll have to wait and see how the kit comes together in the real world. More torque across the board and more horsepower up top? I was an early adopter with the R56... I'll keep that trend going and jump on the JCW this next month. I've been satisfied so far...

milltek and supersprint has it. Supersprint will be the loudest if you order it without cat or center silencer or cancel both.

I'm digging the revised power curve. I believe this is how the MPG is not compromised. I have my MCS spec'd to have the tuning kit put in when the car arrives at the end of the month (assuming it becomes available). I'll definitely write up a thorough review here at the end of break-in.
