R56 Splitter Installed

I have adapted a splitter from the R53 to my new R56. I think it helps fill the void under the front of the car. What do you think?

WOW!!! That looks great!

The only down side I could see would be clearence should you decide to lower the car at all (somthing all R56's need, IMO).

No major modifications, just drilled a hole in each mounting point and into the lower plastic panel under the front spoiler. I used lag bolts to secure it. I did add a couple of extra mount points near the center for extra stability, and mounted it using a rubber spacer. It is very secure

I got the splitter on ebay from (bodykitsruss) and I am sure that it is a fiberglass replica of the German Hamman front splitter, which is very expensive $ $ $. I have also seen them in CF on ebay as well. I have the rear spoiler which will take a little more modification, but should look awesome as well. I won the item for $105 (front and rear), but shipping is listed @ $200. My son picked them up in Brooklyn. It isn't currently listed, but I am sure you can still get them. Ask for Mario (seems like a good guy) and tell him the SXEMINI sent you.

Here is info on my ebay source for the splitter:

There is absoultly no clearance problem, as it is all mounted above the height of the scrape panel that is already stock on the R56 I plan on installing the HR lowering springs as well which should also help improve the high visual appearance of the stock R56

I'm going to follow your lead with the HR lowering springs. Your R56 looks awesome with it's new lower profile

Does the splitter have an aerodynamic function? Or, is it just eye candy?

I doubt any spoiler/splitter does very much in the aerodynamic area unless you are driving a formula car at high speed. I was primarily interested in visually lowering the front of the R56, which I think has been accomplished with this addition and "eye candy" is what "SXE" Mini's are all about!

Yes HR lowering springs are in the future, as I said in a previous post, there is no clearance problems as the splitter is well above the rubber scrape strip under the car

Yes that is the black lounge leather with white piping. It's an expensive option, but well worth the money

Wouldn't this impact turning into a street with an incline or coming off an incline into a flat area...ie driveways and such?

I doubt it with the R56, but I will cross that street when I find it

BTW: My 02 MC scrapes on almost every driveway and incline, so I am always making a cautious approach

Thanks for the kind feedback Also just added some new small driving lights and completed the lowering of the car. I now only have 3 3/4" clearance on the front, so I have to approach all speed bumps and driveway approaches with caution

The lights look great too! (Must admit I am a bit jealous and anxious. My PERSONAL (non-ALTA) Pure Silver S is supposed to come off the truck today!) I will try my best to catch up as soon as I can to you! I will post picks ASAP! Thanks again for sharing the mods with the group!

Chat soon!
