Interior/Exterior boot stripes, to cut or not to cut

boot stripes, to cut or not to cut
just got my bonnet and boot stripes from cooper flags, need some advice on wether to cut the boot stripes to fit the MCS and JCW emblems or not and just remove the emblems for the install. are the emblems just glued/adhesived on or are there holes on the hatch to fit the emblems in?
obviously it'd look better if i don't cut the stripes, but is it a pain to remove/reinstall the emblems?

The replacement badge came on a piece of wax paper with black tape behind each letter. He just put a piece of masking tape on top to hold them in place, peeled the paper off and applied them to the boot. Stuck for good. I'll bet there is a way to get the OEM JCW badge, check with your MINI dealer or PM Mike at AE.

One more vote to NOT cut it and put the emblems over top the stripes.
It's easy to remove the old ones and install new ones. Just put a piece of clear packing tape over the old ones, heat it up with a blow dryer, use some dental floss in a sawing motion, and off they come.
When you put on the new ones, go to a level spot and use a level device to make sure they're straight.
Piece of cake.

still torn. i want to do both sets this weekend but removing the cooper s emblem and reinstalling sounds like a pain since they're all separated. cutting looks fine to me for the cooper s emblem, but i dunno how it'll look for the jcw emblem. any thoughts or anyone done this?

CF stripes would really accent the badge well

If your stripes did not come with a replacement badge, you can do the following:
1. Put a strip of packing tape across it before removal - this will keep it straight, as mentioned above. Trim off all the excess foam tape that you can with a Exacto knife then use new stuff to re-attach (Radio Shack sells a 200-degree 2-sided tape for about $3 a package). if you use the Radio Shack tape, give it 24 hours to cure before washing the car.
OR
2. Get a replacement badge from the dealership. I'm not sure what they cost, but they must not be TOO expensive - I know Mike at Aesthetic Creations buys them several at a time to send with his boot stripes.
3. When re-installing, do yourself a favor and use a small level to guarantee straightness. I marked my OEM badge with masking tape on all axis, and when I reinastalled it it was STILL a bit crooked. Looking at old photos, I'm pretty sure that my OEM badge was just a bit crooked from the factory - not enough to really show to the naked eye, but with the stripe on the boot AS WELL it was obvious.
Good luck!
