BOOST GAUGE

Hello I have been reading alot of different articles about boost gauges and gauges in general. I really need to install a boost gauge ASAP. I have been slowly, but surely modding my car. Performance wise I have the one-ball mod, 19% Alta pulley, foam filter, colder spark plugs with screamin demon coil pack and 8.5mm wires.

Very soon I will be dynoing and chipping my car.

I am not sure as to what my boost is exactly and what type of HP & Torque numbers I am currently running.

Now to my actual questions:
1.) I need to know what the best gauges are to monitor my mini. (I want the most accurate gauges that I can buy with out losing an arm and a leg)
2.) I am trying to find an A-Pillar cluster set up. The only ones that I came across are the RH Drive ones that can be ordered from an English site. The A-Pillar is my ideal position, but if it is not possible then I will go with something similar to the Atla pod or and OEM set up.

P.S. My goal is to find a pod like the RHD has, but of cousre in a LHD version.

Thanks to all that aid in my quest for more mods.!!!!!!

Boost Gauge Thoughts

Remember that the A pillers on the Mini may contain an airbag so be careful where you dig. There are several DIY how to's in the forums, darkmini has one of the best. Most boost gauges have been mounted below dash level but be sure to look up the boost gauge thread that shows one mounted on top of the dash with no holes drilled anywhere.

The actual pillar doesnt contain the airbag but it does contain the strap that holds the side curtain airbag, and if in an accident theres a possiblity that the pillar trim could come off and that boost gauge could come flying at you. That why most of them are on the dash or steering column.

It would probably have to be custom made or modified from another application. I've never seen an A-pillar pod for the MINI; only one's for around the tach or down under the center consol.

I've also heard that the A-pillar clips, which are often bent in the removal, cannot be ordered seperately - if you bend them then you have to buy a whole new A-pillar as a replacement, just to get the clips.

Cool gauge pod, though!

I bet your running somewhere in the 18-19 psi max range. so if you run a 20 psi guage you will be real close to maxxin it out.

I run a autometer Electric Boost gusge that reads vacum and boost. I mounted it off the TAC. I am just not a fan on anything on the A pillar being that the Airbag is behind it.

If you need advice removing and replacing the intercooler to reach the Fuel pressure regulator think i have the easiest way to do it.

remove the intercooler and the fuel pressure regulator is right below it.
