Interior/Exterior Swapping door panels
Swapping door panels
My wife wants a Cooper convertible (yeah!) and I have an '06 MCS. I got the silver dash and wish I got anthracite. My wife likes the silver, so I figured we'd order her car with anthracite and swap pieces. The door panels concern me. Two questions:
1) Will the door panels swap cleanly between my R53 and her R52?
2) Can I swap my H/K speaker trim to her door panels if we don't get her H/K (which she's indifferent on)?
Thanks!

Door panels are easy - straight swap.
HK speaker trim - not so easy. The speaker trim is held in place with plastic rivets, so you need to cut/melt them and re-glue to R&R. Not impossible, but not 'plug and play'.
Otherwise, I don't believe there is any difference between the interior panels of the hardtop vs. convertible.

If you don't get her H/K, I wouldn't bother with swapping the speaker trim. Her speaker trim would come in anthracite which IMO looks much better than the H/K speaker trim, and it would match the rest of the anthracite trim. On your R53 you'd end up with anthracite speaker covers in front and silver H/K in the rear. If you wanted to put anthracite speaker covers in the rear, the part is fairly inexpensive from the dealer (you won't be able to use the one from the convertible because it has a different shape).
