Vinyl Idea...Is It Possible?

I ran across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo7-KJog6ks

I'm an old school Transformers fan. If you watch the video you can see that the there's an AutoBot Emblem on the steering wheel. I recently ordered the gel covered "S" from AesthetiCreations. I thought this might be cool. It's a little nerdy, but I don't care. It would be a gel covered circle...and would fit in the middle of the MINI logo on the steering wheel. ...and since it's vinyl, it could be temporary and easy to remove later. It would look something like this...the pic is rough...I just threw it together. Is this possible, or is it too small? Am I the only weirdo that would like something like this?

Unless the lines are too small it is possible to have done. I have been talking to Mike over at AC the past few days to have a steering wheel center made for m car, so I think that he will have a template soon.

If you have a picture, Mike can most likely make a vinyl product for you. Just check out the boot of the PW MINI in my gallery for proof. That was a tiny picture downloaded from the internet and sent to Mike. Presto !

How hard would it be to replace the whole wing? Or is it a PITA to "Dome" an odd shaped decal? My steering wheel wings are lifting from the right side so a full blown replacement, done right, would be pretty cool

Hmmm, my "wings" are lifted on the right side as well, just 1mm but enough to notice...

I'd go with Looney Tunes, but i'm old.

That's odd - my wings are slightly lifted on the right side too. Weird...

Anyway, Mike at AC can do just about anything - give it a shot!

I think it's common because one misplaced and somewhat aggressive honking of the horn will bend that thin metal Wings emblem.

As far as replacing it, I believe there's been some threads around here saying it was very difficult and relatively expensive because of the airbag inside the steering wheel column.

If you guys know that to be false, that would be good public info.

Huh, it kinda looks like it's just stuck there so I would've thought you could just peel it off

From one TF fan to another it's never to nerdy. I would love to do something like that for you. If you have the older 2 spoke steering wheel making something like this would be no problem.

I could probably make just the logo to go inside the MINI wings to. I'll have to look at a steering wheel first.

I think you should make this a roof graphic

My wings are lifted on the right too.

I sense a conspiracy here.

If I had a hardtop, I would SO borrow your idea!! Are you seriously considering making the emblem? That'd be awesome!

SWEET!!! I have an '06 with the three spoke steering wheel:

It would be awesome if it were just the interior circle. That way I could still use the original wings. I'll give you a call at the beginning of next week. (I don't want to bother you with this during the holiday.)

Even if it's just a new center circle, I'd be interested in one as well
(Not the Autobot one though, it looks sweet, but it's MiniSuperCooper's idea )
