Beauty and function: New tach face and Autometer Boost gauge...
I've been waiting till Aaron at Outmotoring had the final replacement gauge faces available (now on pre-order at Outmotoring.com) to do this. He gave me the latest version over the weekend so I thought while I had the tach off the car, I'd also put on the dark-faced, carbon fiber Autometer boost gauge I picked up last week...
Looks sweet I think!

As you can see, Outmotoring has improved the "stealthed" indicator lights - not only do they only show when lit, but now they're light-sealed with artfully-placed adhesive (restores the factory light seal you break when pulling off the stock faces) but also the indicators themselves are more "cut out" (check out that "Service Engine Soon" indicator - awesome!) Also note: no Outmotoring logo!! I love it when a vendor listens to customer feedback.
Of course, now I actually have to hook up the boost gauge (invloves pulling off the supercharger intercooler) - that's next weekend's project. I hope...
I should have the speedo gauge face on the car later this week!

I'll take proper night photos just as soon as I replace the speedo. I can tell you that Outmotoring moved the hash marks on this the new version to be cleaner - the prototype had lots of open lighting space via the extra hash marks and, while that was cool and VERY bright, it also showed the "dead spots" where the US model has no LEDs (ex. the Euro high-beam indicator is at the top of the speedo and on the US model that's just a dead area). Oh yeah and not that it matters, but he just about DOUBLED the thickness of the stock that these are printed on - they're actually beefier than the OEM ones. Very posh!
Nice, ImagoX. I'm definately getting these, over the CS ones. (If only for the reason that Aaron/OM took a recommendation and did NOT color the hash-marks on the Speedo face.) Can't wait to see it on my green dash.
Cheers!
Mike.

Oooooohhhhh... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
So very, very clean.

I'll take proper full-dark night photos tonight - for now this shows both the crisp lighting cutouts as well as the deep, charcoal gray face.

More info:
These have sticky material on the backs that presses the gauge face into the plastic partitions that surround the LEDs - this means that the "light leak" that I saw in the prototypes is eliminated altogether. When the indicator LEDs are unlit then the idiot lights are basically invisible.
Also, the prototype face's lower tabs were opaque and blocked the needle LEDs a bit, making them dull but still visible - this verison corrects that via translucent tabs.
All-in-all, I have to say that these were worth every second of the time that it took me to figure out the dash dissassembly. I disconnected the speedo (again) to install these and there are still no negative effects.

I still don't understand that warning.
