I'd argue that the folks that take enough of their personal time to even FIND THEIR WAY HERE in the first place pretty much innoculates NAM members from the sort of vendor fleecing you're imagining is happening here. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't... I still think that starting with a mail to the vendor to see what the story was would have been a better idea, but you can't unscramble eggs, as my grandpa used to say...
I know...just want people to feel comfortable letting me know of my mistakes....I'm fully comfortable with the fact that i make mistakes sometimes

I just fear that some people will fall for the marketing even if they found their way here. So i try to look out for people. Maybe i should have emailed them....but as has been seen in this thread, they often glaze over my questions without answering them and just give some babble with really strong adjectives and catch phrase words. It would have been so easy to say..."yes, we made design changes to the kit. That accounts for the price differential. Here are pics of the test product that we made from our molds. Thanks for your interest....we are offering our own custom version. We hope you like it"

I would strongly encourage everyone to remember to post respectfully to other members.

Just a reminder to anyone that already has a strike: a second strike for gross violation of the site guidelines will result in your removal from the forum.

I think Chili is pissed because he spent $1200 on a set of Palo Uber artistically designed floor mats only to find that they are factory Mini floor mats that someone at the Mailboxes store painted with 3 cans of Rustoleum paint. That will leave an "impression" that is hard to get over.

You know for the $1200 they will even tell you how to put them in your car. Ultimately they will finally let you onto the secret that they are actually magical. They are like magic carpets, if you hop on them they will take you to see the Wizard, as in the Wizard of Oz.(Value added feature) This is when you will get to see the almighty Palo himself, only to find that it truly is a worker from the Mailboxes store behind the curtains working the controls.

The chain has been yanked!

I bet if I were to buy the sportmax wheels and switch out the center cap w/ palo uber ones. Palo Uber wheel owners will not be able to tell the difference.

Then you could sell them as "Palo Uber Originals" and make a hefty profit from some poor uneducated sole.

You may be onto a real profitable venture here. I know someone who may acutally buy these wheels from you.

hey guys...keep this somewhat civil here.

A pulley is a pulley though....be it titanium or not, you've got the same pulley as the next guy. You could be cool like me and not even have a pulley....Cooper owners are the true winners

the concerns i have regarding this whole mess is why does Palo Uber see it fit to falsify or embellish on their description of their products?

Sure, we ALL know that a lot of companies relabel items.
But relabeling, marking up nearly double for some of the said items, then claiming that they've redesigned it and that it's better than the next vendor's item is not true...

M7 sells their ultimate grills, originally from grillcraft, but there's hardly any markup. their honesty is what's building their branding...

i cant speak for everyone but personally im not bashing, im questioning.

Wow this feels like the openwheel racing forums all of the sudden. Lots of arguing and bitterness. Anyway...

Heck, as I understand it, even Sportmax badges wheels. I was looking at the 920 a couple years ago for our 03 MINI, and found the same wheel in two other "brands" errr... center caps. ICE was one of them at hte time, but I can't find them anymore. I can't racall the manufacturer (from china) of that rim, but it's Midland or something like that. It doesn't matter now.

Regarding Palo Uber, I bought some of the new size lugs from them for my post 09/06 MINI (the lug size changed), on short notice. At the time Texas Speedwerks was not ready to sell thiers (unfortunately) and I just had to have them "now".

They delivered them pretty quickly, and they were expensive. I ordered them before finding out about the NAM discount they offer. I wrote Carol an email about getting the NAM price, and received no reply email about that issue. They just charged the full price and I haven't taken the time to follow up, since.

Of note: The quality looked good when I got them, but they are rusting on the inner hex surface, after a couple car washes. Annoying.

As far as the wide arches this thread was originally about, they are not my thing. Too tacked on for my taste. I can think of other ways to spend $6K. Although I did buy buy the JCW kit for both my cars, for the same $6K inflated price, so what do I know?

To "Don", "Barry", and "Peter":

If you sent an e-mail to Palo Uber and still waiting for a reply, I hope you know that you were supposed to look for the reply in the Vendor Announcement forum: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=95209

Did any of them ever claim that the re-badged wheels were in fact designed by a "famous" artist and produced by a man in Munich (which they claim is the reason you could feel safe about the strength). Rebadging is fine...especially in the MINI community where demand is low, so custom fabrication of your own parts can be hard to justify......lots of MINI tuners do it. What isn't okay is pretending that the wheels are superior based on false claims such as a famous designer or superior producer and charging extra because it was designed by some "famous expressionist artist" They outwardly lied about it. Grill craft makes the M7 grills....and M7 will admit to that. They never state that the grills were designed by some special engineer or that the grilles were custom made in spain....they simply change the name from Grillcraft grills to M7 Ultimate Grills and post them on their site for sale.

To me there is a huge difference between simply rebadging a product/changing its name to reflect your company's name....and completely lying about the characteristics of the parts and pretending that you custom made them.

Maybe he's a Dadaist... After all, Duchamp once took a urinal, flipped it and called it a "drinking fountain" and HE's famous for that.

hahah i bet he wishes he was an artist like DuChamp. DuChamp changed the art world as we know it....i respect him a lot.

DuChamp would outwardly state that the pieces he used for his sculptures were FOUND OBJECTS though.....he never claimed to have actually made the urinal or had a friend in Munich who produced the urinal

And when he "copied" the mona lisa...he actually did all the painting himself and admitted that the mona lisa was the original source of the painting.

I know... I've got a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. I'm just trying to lighten up things in here, and, hey, urinals are inherently funny.

WOW, what passion runs through these threads! That's what separates us from just car owners. No negativity here, I've bought many products from Palo Uber. I've never paid too much either. Value is far more than price to me. Just my opinion! None of you are wrong, just a tad reactive for me. I've received "World Class" service from Bryce and the gang, something that is priceless to me. I like all of the varied opinions here at NAM. I've ALWAYS scoured the forums before my purchases. We are all adults, and can make our own decisions. Mine are based on logic and yes, emotion. I was originally drawn to Palo Uber because their products are different. I've sent them a bunch of money and love the results. THAT is what is important. I will continue to buy from them.
As for the other vendors involved in the bashing..........shame on you. Sell your products on their merits. I don't believe any of you are selling junk!
If someone wants wild body kits...... have at it.
I've ALWAYS admired Stoopid Girl’s car and her attitude, but my Mini is not Pink.
ALL of you ROCK!! You have been very helpful to me from day one!
Keep letting us know how you feel, just Don't Hate!!

Agreed....its great to have things to choose from. And if you value it...the price isnt an issue. The issue arises when a company boldly lies to its customers....that's the only reason some people are so worked up. good post though

Palo Uber, i sent you a PM with the questions that have been glazed over as they got lost in the discussion. I await the response, cheers

I have just spent a decent amount of time on the Uber Mini site and do not see any unique or interesting products. Stubby antennas and lightbars are a dime a dozen, and certainly not worth $50. And tell me those wheels are not Sportmax rims...
In fact, I see nothing on this site but remade, rebadged, run of the mill products at a "world class" ripoff price.

I'm shocked Palo Uber hasn't yet answered the questions.
