I was wrong. The questions have just been glazed over again...still waiting for answers to the questions.

PM sent, PU

Let me know when you want me to come over to your place and smear some dog poop on a sheet with a stick and then hang it on your wall.

Wait, I may have just given Palo an idea!

Keep in mind that the only evidence that it sold for that much (or at all) is Carol's web page. She finally posted some "galleries" that are supposedly showing Uber's art, and the claims are as vague, misleading, and unverifiable as Uber's biography/artist's statement.

Absolutely. No brick-and-mortar galleries, no critical discussions or comments, no results of searches on pretty much all known search engines for Palo Uber other than MINI related stuff, no real evidence whatsoever that anybody named Palo Uber exists, that his art exists as anything other than web page thumbnails, and absolutely no evidence whatsoever that those 'sales' are real either.

Reminds me of the story of Sam Orez, who nearly graduated from an accredited Ivy League university. And who never existed as anything other than a prank by a group of classmates.

Spunky, I am convinced this guy is fake, kind of like this Sam Orez person you reference. And they have to be kidding if they think any of this stuff was "designed by Palo" and "engineering by our people in Germany" especially when the stuff all looks like someone else's stuff. If you call the "Stanford Gallery" number for the US its Uber MINI. And if you google "Bistango Gallery" in Irvine, CA where his works are supposedly displayed, it comes up at being a restaurant...Makes no sense at all.

Mr. Uber

Now that Mr. Uber's very existence is being questioned, we can't let him disappear and we must create him for ourselves. So without further ado...

His biography says he was born in 1951, which makes him 56. Should we make him balding and overweight, or a skinny starving artist?

What MINI does he drive? I think a proper artist would drive a MINI One. What color do you think?

Does he have a spouse, partner(s), kids? Gay, straight, bi? We get to decide.

Which college did he attend in the USA? That would have been in the 70's. Do you think he was into disco? Did he party in Florida on spring break?

We have a lot of ground to cover, so let's fill in all the details.

I dont think there is any question of his existence....just a very large one of him being "one of the greatest living abstract expressionists" despite having no other information regarding that name on the internet. That is one of the questions i asked PU......response was that i could buy one of his paintings. Not really an answer to the question really...

I'll wager there is no person named 'Palo Uber' and it's purely a marketing ploy.

Having looked a little further on the web....it seems odd that despite being close to Konigseder and recieving the image from them, the pic being used is of a far worse quality and has had the name removed from the original image

from the official konigseder site:

It was the artist's abstract expression of the kit.

I told you in my earlier post Palo is actually a worker at the Mailboxes store. When someone is in need of a quick fix of expressionism he dons his Super Uber suit, arms himself with 3 cans of Rustoleum paint, and flies around on his magic Palo Uber Mini car mats and does fly-by paintings. This is why he is so elusive. He is the Clark Kent of the art world. Does he really exist? It's a mystery. Is Carol Lois Lane? Who knows. All we need to know is Palo is here to save the Mini community with his unique and original engineering concepts and works of art.

What really happened.....
Palo Uber wanted to offer a Wide Body Kit to the Wonderful Mini Community. They contacted the company that had previously made a wide body kit to try to get something started. At the same time they posted pics of what the kit might look like for those who would truely be interested in such a kit.
After many phone calls and several business meetings between gentlemen no deal was ever made.
If you have any issues call them: Phone: (949) 725-7983

Also consider the price. If you want to buy something from London you have to convert dollars to pounds. If you go to http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi the rate of exchange is 1.96340
So something that costs $3900 pounds would now cost aprox. $7657.00 US.

Horsehockey. Palo Uber did more than just "post pics of what the kit might look like". They offered it for sale on their site, complete with a price. They also claimed it was an original offering of their own design.

And if "after many phone calls and several business meetings between gentlemen no deal was ever made", then why is PU claiming that they spent "thousand of dollars" having the manufacturing molds modified? Posting an item for sale on your website, claiming it as your own design, and acquiring/modifying the molds seems like awfully-strange behaviour if there never was any kind of arrangement between PU and Konigseder.

And as far as the price goes, the $3900 price for the Konigseder kit was in dollars, not pounds, so you can't blame the huge markup on the exchange rate.

Here is the deal. They were testing the market demands for the kit to see if it was worth while for them to invest in the "similiar" kit.

They explained to each PU customer that it was in the works and it would be some time.

I honestly, do not see the harm as it was never introduced to these forums..

Intorducing it to these forums isnt required. They introduced it to the whole public when they put it on their site.

And yes, i have tried talking to them (via PM), but they continue to ignore my questions and prolong response times.

And please stop bringing up exhange rates......The two websites offering the kit that i posted were BOTH posting their prices in US dollars. And they both got the kit from konigseder....so they both paid the same price, both paid shipping, both paid import taxes and all that jazz. They both cost the same amount.

It's also interesting to see their story change. Before they took the kit off the market they said in this thread:

We have spent thousands to pay for the mold modifications along with the design changes Uber thought necessary.
And now in recent PM's to me they say that the price was due to mold costs they had already spent:

We were of agreement, with the manufacturer as to the specific modifications to the molds and costs of such, when we decided to "test" the number of responses with correlation to their posy codes at a specific price point.
Which seems to imply that they hadn't spent the money on the molds yet and had simply gotten the price estimates. Wonder why the change?

As well in their PMs they stated:
The exhaust system we would have furnished would be made by the same people that have produced for us historicaly, ie.; our present dual performance system,. We would have utilized round openings and at a differnt placement than the existing rectangular.
So the sentence on the site about their exhaust being in that picture is in fact a STRAIGHT LIE . That isnt their exhaust at all....its the konigseder exhaust. So please explain to me how lying is okay.

This is why I thnk there was no harm :

"They were testing the market demands for the kit to see if it was worth while for them to invest in the "similiar" kit. "

Rally, how are those wheels coming. Looking forward to seeing them soon!
