Installing seats that fit you better won't hurt performance if your comfort is important.
A good driving position is worth more than the weight alone.
The installed seats have a relatively low center of gravity and adds weight to the middle of the car so no real penalty compared to a heavy sunroof.
Why did you replace the old seats?? Worn out?
What about safety harnesses? Making any improvement or using the same ones as before?
So to make up for the weight added just get some really light wheels and low profile and sticky tires.

i agree about lowering the center of gravity and i love the idea. the sparcos sit a little lower than stock (not much) and the same as the corbeaus. i got some weight savings back with new wheels & tires and a rear seat delete, so i think i'm ok. i' think those scroth harnesses are the way to go, but i'm just using the oem belts for now. (gotta save more $) there's several friends that really want my old seats and i think the new ones are better for me, so i just got them and will pass the others along. that way, everbody is happy and excited about their cars again.
