STUPID parcel shelf

I finally got around to reinstalling my parcel shelf today. I had removed it immediately after my wreck when I thought the car might be totalled and shelves were getting scarce and expensive. I have been avoiding this job, because the first time it took 3 tries, 3 hours, a week waiting for replacement of lost clip, and at least one splitting headache to get it in. Experience does NOT help . This time was only better because I knew when to give up . As soon as one screw and clip disappeared into an unreachable crevice, I decided it was just fine with neither of the screws . Maybe if someone who is endowed with more magical powers than I am comes along and offers to install screws and clips for me, it will get done properly. Until then, it can just hang in there by friction.

Anybody interested in taking care of this for me at Fontana?

LOL....Step AWAY from the tools. You remind me of my best friend, NOT talented with tools. At least you learned from your experineces...and were able to just let it be before more damage was done

If you were here in Colorado, I would help you get that puppy in right away. Good luck with the install

Ha! Similar experience here. I pulled the parcel shelf out of my '02 MC when I sold it and reinstalled it in my replacement '05 MCS. Unfortunately, I forgot to remove the clips when I did the removal. I've had a clippless parcel shelf for about 16 months now. I just bought some new clips last week but don't know where I left the screws!

I better get 03Indigo to help me out a bit. (Could be worth a lunch at Wahoo)

Maybe I was just lucky, but mine installed in less than 10 minutes. I guess my holes lined up

I can't help but wonder why the parcel shelf doesn't use the same fastening as the knee bolster. It pops out in 15 seconds. It goes back in just as easy.

If you get really frustrated and can't take it any more, I'll take the parcel shelf off your hands.....

I think I have some extra clips if you need one. When I put mine in I taped the clips after reading about folks who had the same trouble you had. I also bought some metal, U-Type speed nuts at Lowe's as backup and it seemed like they would work better anyway, but I didn't need them. You find those in the the drawers filled with specialty parts at Lowe's.

I'll be at the Dragon and would be glad to help if you haven't figured it out by then.

Yup - mine went in a LOT easier once I had used duct tape to secure the clips where they needed to be.

I too found this to be a very easy install, on top of the fact that I also added an extra power outlet, fitted the light switch, and ran it all behind the shelf safe from pedals and harnesses. I guess you either have it or you don't.
