License Plate Exterior Mod

Check out this sweet Mod for my MCS Checkmate 06. For those states without the front mandatory license plate requirement, I believe this is one of the coolest mods out there. A great way to "personalize" or "you-ify" the vehicle.

A few notes... This is an original German/European License plate with silver holder to match the silver roof. Granted the MINI was built in Oxford, but since the union of owner and MINI, the born relationship between driver and MINI, happened in Germany, and the time spent over the past year of motoring race circuits and country bends, it seem fitting as this commemorates that time. Plus it just looks cool.

Looks good Rudy Is that a plastic holder or did you manage to find a metal one?

Bought it as is. I lucked out considering its the same color as my roof and viper U stripe. They had chrome and the black plastic. Chrome would be too much and the black holder looked a bit cheap, not to mentioned it didn't look like it would have held the plate securely.

The holder is plastic, but a very durable plastic. Never seen metal ones. I would imagine those are heavy.

Yeah, I saw a SS one at the Essen Motorshow back in... 2001/2002 But didn't get it because it wouldn't have looked right on my A3. But now, I think a brushed stainless steel would look pretty good (and I wouldn't be afraid it would break everytime I pull it apart )

So when are you going to "wear" that front plate? Shows?

When I return to the states. NC doesn't require front plates so I got this ahead of time.

Obviously not now although I wish I could though

Well, you could probably get away with running a few red lights... before the Polizei tracked you down

Oh yeah, and there's always the option of keeping your current front plate when you get Stateside (like I did)

When I first got to Huntsville I got so many odd looks it was funny
