I chose to remove the headlights. They are only held on by three nuts on each so it isn't a big deal. With the lights out you can remove the headlight rings. There are three small tabs on the bottom of the ring and three larger ones on the top. Leave the top tabs alone and pry the bottom tabs out to release the ring. After those three tabs are loose push out on the ring to remove it from the headlight housing. There is double sided tape on the back of the ring so it will resist a little. Don't try to pry the top tabs because they will break off. When you apply the vinyl, start from the top and work your way down peeling off the backing as you go. You will have to cut out some material from the bottom to get it to join up properly.
I think removing the rings is a necessity to get the vinyl to fully wrap around the inside and outside of the rings. I got my vinyl sheet from a sign shop for $3 a yard. Good luck!

I used vinyl on my grille exactly like Slvrmni03 did on his rings and you don't need to scuff them, just like he said. Just clean 'em really well and apply the vinyl using the "wet" application technique and a squegee to remove all air bubbles - the resulting bond is smooth and very strong. That way, if you do decide to reverse it next year, you'll have no issues.
Oh, and remember to treat the vinyl with Rubber and Vinyl protectant (whatever you use on your black trim) - UV will fade and blister the material over time and taking an extra 5 minutes once or twice a month to treat the vinyl along with your trim will keep it black, supple and wrinkle-free.

I like the Lamin-x. There is a slight haze in spots but I am hitting it with a hair dryer and it seems to be dissipating. Overall, I think it is a good product and I was surprised how easy it was to work with once I got some heat into it. I just wished that I would have done it earlier as the surface of my four year old headlights was looking pretty rough.
Motor On, what color are you going to put on your headlights?

I'm planning on paint matching the chrome surrounds to JB then putting yellow lamin-x over the head lamps. I've been wanting to do this for a while however I'm holding off until I add 2 for and 2 driving lamps which I'm holding off on doing until I have the aero grill. So that way I remove the majority of fron end chrome (If you check the gallery in my sig I'm in the process of a majority blackout) have the contrast from the yellow headlamps (I plan on doing yellow bulbs in the fogs I add on) and still have some nice bright white light I can throw down the road when I getin the boonies where its real dark.
So I'm at the point I pretty much have every detail planned out and I'm approachig time for action real soon.
