well i was planning on using the stock housing without the back reflector part, just the lenses and bezel. I have the whole project in my head i just dont know where to get the circuit board or really how to wire it and such, im still an amateur at soldering and resistors and such.

yah i just meant what reflectors for the LEDs? for brake lights....you need each led to have a bowl shaped chrome reflective housing around it or else people will only be able to see your brake lights from directly behind you...not at an angle or anything. There are a few pics in that forum i sent

yeah i have thought about that but dont know how to fix it just yet. I have seen a variety of OEM LED taillights and some have the "bowl shaped chrome reflective housing" and some dont but they do something to reflect the directional LEDs.

I think it's also the lens they put in front of each LED.

You don't require a reflector if you hand-make an LED array - the LEDs are so directional that little to no light will spill out the sides. There are special "tower" style LED bulbs that use a circle of LEDs pointing out to the sides that fill a reflector. For what I think he's thinking of, he'd use LEDs pointed straight back - the red plastic diffusser on the light would make them visable (some) from the sides...
