B&M + Whalen (fitment issues)

I have a B&M short shifter for my 2006 and i just got my new Whalen shift machine ****.

I followed the instructions on how to secure the **** onto the shifter shaft, but it does not seem to be working.

I lift the sleeve up, line up the slot, slide the shift **** on and release it. The **** can be moved up easily before it catches and then it will continue to slide off with a minimal pull.

There is a slight ring that is in the B&M shifter shaft, are the tiny clamps in the shift **** supose to hold onto the ring groove? If so it does not reach it. The **** seems to bottom out first. The shifter shaft flares out, just before the ring and it is to wide to continue to push downward. However the smaller part of the shaft (higher up) is too thin for the **** and slides off easily.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the B&M short shifter/whalen combo

and if so, how can i fix it? am i doing something wrong?

I have the same setup but in a '04. That shouldn't make a diff. Anyway, my whalyn needs to be pushed down and wiggled just a lil more than the stock shifter. It taks a lil more effort to get it seated. My suggestion is work on it a lil harder and it should "catch" properly.

Had that same issue the first time I tried to install my Whalen on my B&M shifter. Realized the **** just wasn't seating far enough. Easy fix. Made sure the **** was in the correct position and hit it with a big rubber hammer.

It settled the **** properly on the shifter and now the release ring works fine to pull the **** off and on and it's seated properly and won't come off unexpectedly.

Sounds like there must be at least one dimension on the B&M lever that's a tad larger than on the stock lever.

I don't have a B&M lever on hand, so I wouldn't have a clue.

Anyone got access to a micrometer, and can get some accurate measurements?

Ok, no worries everyone i got it on this afternoon, it just took some wiggling and more force than i was applying orginally.

Everything fits snug and it holds tight.

wow this combo looks/feels great!!!! i love the added weight of my Whalen ****. Hopefully if the weather holds i should be able to install everything into the car tomorrow.

thanks everyone!
